What did you do in the garden today?

Well the heat has come back, pretty humid too. Daughter SIL and kids came back for weekend to help us ol' folks with flip house. Exhausting but oh to be young again! I was inside managing crews, and gpa was outside directing g kids and son. My dear daughter peeled 2 walls full of old wallpaper then washed off glue prolly saved me 2 weeks, with one bad shoulder bad knee.
Just went out in garden my plants all told me they to HATE me for neglecting them! Picked a few cukes. I'm watering now so all is happy. I think I'll pull green beans and give to hens. I'm over them. I'll pickle spears soon
( didn't get that done B4 family got here), might do a spicy version also. I need to eat patty pan squash soon, those are prolific this year. Cherry peppers are still green I won't grow those again, and the "tricked you" peppers that are no heat jalapeños look alikes are a bust. I've only picked small handful twice compared to my real jalapeños. Grew Armenian yard long cukes also not a fan of those. Cukes came in handy with family they even took some for the road trip home. Busy but great time with them all.

I did most of the weed whacking in the front yard. Picked 8 peaches and another okra pod before lunch. While the old chickens were “free ranging” I started tackling some of the ridiculously tall weeds and shrubs in one corner of the backyard. The tropical like weather we suffered through earlier has created monstrous weed growth. I have golden rod over 6 feet tall. My forsythia had skyrocketed to 10 feet in some places. There are “weeds” in place of the trees that were cut down that are 12 feet tall or more.

I had a pure ammonia bottle laying around and used it to take off some oil and grease build up on my electric stove top. I was amazed at how well it worked on oil and grease. I wish I knew about this sooner. I feel like I have been living in a cave...........:frow
Sometimes the old fashioned things works best. I had a friend that used olive oil to remove sap from his vehicles hood after trying all the store bought things sold for that.

Went outside for about 30 minutes to re-pot 2 baby pineapple plants and 1 plumeria. It's so hot and humid that sweat was rolling into my eyes and off my face within 10 minutes. By the time I finished, my clothes look like I went swimming in them. 🥵

Decided to go inside and re-pot the 3 baby pomegranate saplings in the sunroom instead of outside...

Probably need to water the garden a bit in the morning. Thankfully it's supposed to rain all weekend and then cool down into the 80s. JOY! 🎉

I watered all my newly-planted raised beds.

Left to right: Bed #2 (collards, etc.), Bed #3 (tomatoes, rutabagas, carrots, turnips), Bed #4 (Bush beans, peas, carrots), Bed #5 with straw on top is fallow until the Spring.

Look what came today!

Last chance for Baker Creek. :fl

I think I will pull the remaining beans from Bed #4 and plant turnips and beets.
