What did you do in the garden today?

my pepper seedlings didn't thrive and looked yellowish. I googled and found out they need more light. another reason can be low temperature. I use lukewarm water now and bring them inside at night. they are stunted but I can see the difference when they sit outside for a few hours.

we had frost this morning.
I ended up keeping all my seedlings outside in the hoop house. I will get everything in the ground this weekend as we should be past the last frost date now.

Went to Lowe's to pick up hardware for the new grape trellis. Walked out with 2 herb starts (Dill & Chamomile) along the 5 seed packets of other stuff. On top of the hardware. 😂

It's a sweltering 83 degrees today. In a few months that will be heavenly cool but for today it really sucks. At least tomorrow will be in the upper 60s. I have a lot of garden work to do this weekend. If only my feet would cooperate. I have all kinds of foot problems. Already had 2 surgeries which helped temporarily only to have problems migrate to other parts of my feet. I can't win for losin' and I can't stay on my feet for more than an hour or so without excruciating crippling pain. Hard to get everything done when you can't walk.

Two nights in a row with temps dipping to 25F. Hopefully that’s the end of that. It looks like the forsythias have survived. The fritillaria lily plants are looking ok, the daffodils that were blooming seem to be ok. I’m not sure about my orange azalea. I’ll give it another day. I’m hoping to take the mulch cover off the asparagus bed tomorrow and install hoops over it so I can cover it when needed.

JUST looked up my Burpee Bay Laurel. WTH did they ship it to zone 5 if it's a 8-11 zone plant?? Oh well. If it's alive, it can live outside for the summer, and I'll bring it in next fall.
I usually have the opposite problem. I want to zone push at the cabin zone 3b. Nobody will ship outside the recommended zone. I want to try native persimmon usually zone 4 max some zone 5. I believe they will survive. Just more trouble to get some there. I already have 2 black walnuts growing there. Zone 5 rated. Many things have just not been tried there.

The picture doesn't really show the cheeks but it's adorable.
