What did you do in the garden today?

I went out and checked out the garden. My corn, squash and beans are sprouting up. Unfortunately my peppers are dying off. I will check it out tomorrow after I get home from visiting my mom.
I'm having issues with some of my peppers this year as well. Whole plants just wilting and dying. I pulled them out and it seems like the roots rotted. But the soil isn't overly wet. So maybe it's because it got too cold in the soil, with the moisture.

Yesterday I planted more melon seeds and spread granulated DE around every squash, pumpkin, and melon. The polies (isopods) are trying to eat them. My blue Hubbard squash probably won't make it.

I watered a little bit. I was pretty miserable yesterday. Those of you who remember what happened to me last year... It happened again on Monday, not as bad but still very miserable. That remedy oil helps a lot and that stuff kicked two minor incidents early on. But this one is just worse. Ugh. And I have to go work on a job site all day today, going up and down a ladder. I just want to stay home and rest. 😩

Tonight when I get home is my DS open house at school, so I'll be doing that, then coming home to clean all of the dead algae out of the pool. I dropped all the particles yesterday. Should be ready to vacuum tonight. Assuming I have enough daylight left.

G’morning all. It’s pleasantly cool here this morning. I took all the eggs from the broody and denied her access to the nest boxes. She came out and ate this morning and is out there being hormonal. I fertilized the corn and watered it, then cleaned waterers and buckets. I need to go do the duck pool too, it is gross with algae from getting direct sun. There are tons of flowers on the cucumber plants so I hope that means we will get lots of fruit. We like them but so do the chickens.

I've developed a new problem.... Wilting potato plants. They are not turning yellow or anything. Just seem to wilt and die suddenly. It started with one plant. Suddenly, in a matter of 2 days, it was the entire tub almost... The plants were perfectly healthy right before this happened. I'll try to get a picture later on...

Look up fusarium or verticullum wilt. I believe you have the former.
It's so sad when we have to destroy plants we've so lovingly and hopefully nursed along.

Picked leaf lettuce, kale, bok choi, chives and watercress from the garden and had a giant salad for lunch. It was good!

And planted strawberry crowns for the grandkids. Dang HomeDepot lack of quality. Supposed to be 10 crowns, there were 9. Two or three looked good, the rest iffy. I'll save the receipt and package just in case...
If you lived closer you could have come to dig my strays. Hope yours grow. Plants and seeds have inflated quite a bit since the covid gardening craze.
