What did you do in the garden today?

Something has discovered my strawberry barrels.... I'm guessing an armadillo or a possum. It's pulling entire plants, crown and all, out of the dirt... :rant This has happened 2 days in a row now. I've also found just leaves pulled off or a few unripe strawberries (still white) just laying on the ground. Grrrrrr...
Granny would make opossum soup, just an idea. 😂

Stark Brothers - they have issues.

Ordered 5 trees with expected arrival weeks ago. Nothing. Nothing at all has arrived.

Since my order I’ve received two (2) email telling me that my delivery pushed out until another date. But I’ve received over sixty (60)… yes, sixty emails telling me to buy buy buy, sale sale sale, almost gone, most popular…. You get the idea. Sixty email in one month’s time…that is two a day on average (although I’ve received a few more than 60). But they can’t ship me what I ordered.

A few years ago their issue was that you could never find anything in stock. And I actually stalked their website for 1.5 years…checking it regularly for items and signing up for notifications when something came back in stock. That was a failure, and had to buy some trees from another place. That never-in-stock issue has resolved but now they are clearly waaaaay over promising and cannot fulfill even basic orders.

Yes, I called and got told what they wanted me to hear. But, that (the trees) never materialized, so I’m left without trees, and it’s May.

And I’ve received a couple of emails telling me my trees are shipped, arriving by x dates, but nothing arrived….. when I check my order on their site nothing is shipped, just says “ordered”, and nothing arrives.

So, do I cancel the order and never return to Stark? Wait until next year and order from another supplier? Which supplier? Do I wait to receive this Stark order and plant when they arrive (then never order again from Stark)? Ugh.
Nowadays they all might have the same supplier.
I know almost everyone gets the onion plants (not sets) from the same TX company.

Personally I will never order another tree from Starks. Had issues with my order from them years ago. I ordered 2 cherries, 2 plums and 2 peaches, all dwarfs. Got 3 plums, 1 nectarine, and 1 cherry. When I called to complain, they said it was my fault, said I must've ordered it wrong and I had to pay shipping to return to them and shipping again for the right items. pissed me off. I kept their order instead of getting what I wanted, planted them and it turns out one of those plums isn't even a dwarf! Do you know how much work it is to dig out a full grown tree! None of the trees are late blooming like the ones I ordered so I rarely get fruit, frost gets them almost every year. Nope, not happy with Starks at all.

Cancel the order. This is very similar to what happened to me. I received emails pushing back the delivery date as well, then stopped getting email updates, but lots of ads. I finally called them and they told me my order had been cancelled. But I was welcome to reorder. Excuse me! I think it’s a scam. They offer a super low price then string you along then try to get you to buy something else. Kind of like the old “bait and switch” scam.

I cancelled my order. I ordered half as many trees for the same price from Fast Growing Trees. Probably not the best plan but I had certain ones I really really wanted.

Just put in my order for my Jumbo Cornish Cross Meatbird Chicks from McMurrey. They only have 3 hatches available unless I wanted them after mid-September.
I guess I'd better just do it now. They'll be coming the week of May 26. My husband just let us buy a Yardbird plucker (big investment) a couple months ago. We've been plucking the "hard" way for the past 15 years...
I watched their video of that thing in action and I absolutely could not stifle my laughter. Between the flopping and his descriptions. 🤣
