What did you do in the garden today?

I fell behind. Been busy over here. Yesterday I watered, and fixed for drip lines in the orchard. Over the weekend I trained tomato plants, planted "ornamentals" I grew from seed, (lavender, hyssop, st John's fire salvia, Mexican mint marigolds, and calendulas). Yesterday I pulled weeds and watered. Slept like crap last night. Going to be a long day. Boss is on vacation so I'm doing most everything on my own. Not a big deal but I already live in a constant state of stress so I really feel it when I'm running solo. I know it's self inflicted stress, ADHD living at it's finest.

Garden is pretty happy though. Had a bunch of squash. Picked 3# of blackberries. Have at least that much more to pick right now. My Japanese hulless popcorn is knee high. Harvested all the garlic. Working on potatoes.

I have a fan running to help cure the garlic. Rest assured, they're drying.

Couldn't find any Spreader Sticker locally so I had to order it. In the meantime, I added some Castile soap to the kaolin clay hoping it might help. It seemed to at first but halfway through the solution got real thin and basically useless. I'll spray again once the SS arrives.

Picked about 3 gallons of potatoes and a large handful of green beans. Found 2 zucchini that were hidden so they are ginormous... Any suggestions on how to use giant squash? I'm thinking maybe zucchini bread but open to suggestions. Going to have a bumper crop of spaghetti squash. Found several cushaw and a couple of baby pumpkins too but no watermelon yet. I really need to spray my tomatoes too. I've never had bugs attack the unripe fruit like they are this year...
You can scrape the seeds out of the big squash and use them as zucchini boats. Yummmm! I bake mine with marinara, cheese and pepperoni.

What does this mean? I've never heard the term.
I take a spoon and gently pull the dirt around the onion bulb away from the bulb so it can increase in size. It definitely makes a difference in my soil type since it's a heavier type soil, not light and airy like a raised bed type. It's called "spooning", but realized how it probably sounds crazy! 🤣 Haha

I take a spoon and pull all the dirt away from the bulb once they start the process of getting larger bulbs. It makes room for the onion bulb to increase in size. It's called spooning, but I just realized if you don't know the process it sounds crazy!!!! 🤣 Hahaha
I think that's a local thing. I've never heard anyone outside of Nebraska spooning their onions. :D

It reduces stress and moisture build up on the larger varieties of bulbs.
