What did you do in the garden today?

I left an ice cream banana tree to fend for itself and didn't water it for year, and it still gave me 2 bunches of bananas. However, the bananas were on the small side but tasted the same.
I minced four bananas up and put it in my instant pancake batter and cooked it. It tasted way better than banana bread in my opinion.
I wonder how it would taste with mango.

Watered the plants up by the house... Stuff in the garden probably desperately needs watered... It's been too hot to go down there. Everything might even be dead for all I know. I know it's terribly overgrown. So far, local meteorologists are saying that the heat dome is likely to persist around here until early August, at a minimum. Triple digits every day.

To make things even more fun for my poor birds, a pair of Hawks has decided to stick around and harass everyone. I've been setting off bottle rockets which deters them for a few hours and then they just come back. Grass is starting to die off from lack of rain which means burn bans are imminent. Can't set off bottle rockets under a burn ban. *sigh*

I'm ready for fall.

My snow pea vines are still setting on a few new pods, and there are still a lot maturing that will be for next year's seed. Picked a good handful this morning.

I loosened up the constriction on the Roma tomato plants I've been supporting with the electrical wire. The plants were getting so bushy between the wires I was concerned about the lack of airflow so I let more leaves and vines spill out from inbetween the wires.

With my other tomatoes in the lower garden not doing so hot, these 6 plants in the raised bed will probably be my main tomato source this year, so I need to do what I can to get them to produce a lot.

Regarding the lack of mosquitoes here, it's most likely a local thing. I live up on higher ground, there's no standing or running water nearby and it's been dry as a bone this spring and summer. Rainfall for the last 4 months...

April - 2.27"
May - 0.96"
June- 0.74"
July - 0.07"
