What did you do in the garden today?

Surely I'm not the only one who gets an abhorrent aftertaste in my mouth for hours after ingesting anything containing Stevia.
Lol!!! A lot of stuff with stevia in it is like that. The liquid IV isn't all that bad. The liquid stevia drops are the worst.

We try to only use stevia though. We maintain a low carb diet besides fiber and the occasional spoon full of home made jam.

We hardly ever sweeten anything. The only person in the house with a sweettooth is the small human.

I'm getting real tired of weather prognosticators. Last weekend, they called for 70% chance of rain yesterday morning around sunup. Nothing. Rechecked the weather and now at 20% chance for the day and 0% until this coming weekend so I spent half the morning watering the garden. Overnight last night beginning around 2 we got an hour long good soaking rain. You would be forgiven if you thought that with all of the modern techy equipment they have, weather forecasting would be better than in the past not worse.

I bought a Stevia plant years ago that I have to bring in to overwinter. Thought it would be a good idea to cut back on sugar in my tea and coffee. So I tried brewing the tea with stevia leaves, nope. It was sweet alright, but that taste was enough for me to go cold turkey on the sugar in my coffee and sugar. So now Im healthier drinking black coffee and plain tea and I have a lovely plant that puts out pretty little white flowers. Win/win! Lol

Oh I've got a bit of a sweet tooth - I'll freely admit that. With my morning coffee, I'll have a small something to start the day.
Whenever possible I'll sweeten whatever I make with maple syrup from the brother in NYS or honey from a local bee keeper or molasses. Sometimes sorghum. Sugar, brown sugar, and turbinado are reserved for last resort.

I've learned to read labels in the supermarket looking for any artificial or alternate sweetener and when I find it, I walk away knowing I've done my taste buds a great favor. And while I'm on that rant, let me also say there is WAY too much unnecessary HFCS hiding in food it has no business being in.

They still use manual release weather balloons. Due to personnel shortages, they are releasing about a quarter to a third less balloons.

Finally bought a new truck. It's the first big purchase/bill, besides the house, and delivering DS, that I've been excited, relieved and happy with.

I'll be happy to say goodbye to the old truck and the 4Runner.

DS and I picked all the dried beans and popcorn in anticipation of 3/4 inch of rain. It barely drizzled. 🙄 So the popcorn will take longer to dry in the shed.
What did you buy?

My DH wants to trade in our Acura TLX for a 2025 4Runner. I bought the TLX brand new in 2021 but, working from home, never drive it. Since it gets better gas mileage than our truck, DH drives it for work and hates it. I personally love it... But since he needs something to drive, I told him to just pick out whatever HE wants. The one he wants won't be available for a few weeks though so we are in a holding pattern. I'm cringing just thinking about interest rates though. Ugh....

That was overturned and the NWS offices are fully manned as they are now considered essential safety offices. Due to their nature, they cannot be released by just anyone. The number of releases is now normal, and extra are released in heightened need times.

So I got around to doing a closer exam on my little garden raider... It appears that Bugs is a GIRL.
