What did you do in the garden today?

I dug the rest of the potatoes. My lower back is telling me about it.

In other news, we could get 1-3" of rain this weekend! Not just "a chance of rain," the percent chance is 100%, and the swath of heavy rain looks like it'll set up right over us.

All the fall crops are growing well, harvesting plenty for me and the chickens. All of the garlic that I planted on the 1st is up between 2-4 inches, coming along perfectly and ready for heavy mulching. Won't do that til we get our first frost though. Best news of all, not a single vole hole or damage in any of the beds since I planted the garlic. Its like they just packed up and left. Yay garlic, its working!

recipe please - for bread of coarse, I don't bake Amish:lau
Amish BREAD recipe:
2 cups warm water (110F)
2/3 cup of white sugar
1-1/2 TBSP yeast
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1-1/2 tsp salt
6 cups bread flour

-Stir sugar and yeast into the water and let sit for about 5 minutes, until foamy.

-Mix oil and salt into the yeast mixture and add to the flour and combine into a soft dough.

-Knead dough until smooth

-Place kneaded dough into an oiled bowl and turn to coat, -cover and allow to rise for about an hour until doubled in size.

-Punch dough down, divide in half and shape loaves and place into two well-oiled 9X5 loaf pans. Cover and allow to rise until loaves are about 1 inch above the lip of the pans.

- Bake at 350F for 30-40 minutes
I usually take loaves out at 30 minutes
