What did you do with your flock today?

I know! I check this thread early in my morning and it's like little squirrels were playing while I slept. Its fun. Unfortunately when it goes too fast I miss stuff.

I get that. This thread is my only constant. We have a kind crowd here.
**The ignore button works wonders for the habitually rude. Personally, my life is too good and too short to entertain the perpetually sour, self important or generic butthead. I'm not qualified. I am my own work in progress lol 🪞
Right! I miss so much and I feel so bad. Like when one of your guys’ chickens are sick or something important happened.

I love the ignore button. I’m sure if I went to other threads I would end up with a large amount of blocked people. I don’t do drama. Which is why I don’t even have Facebook. So much drama there too. This is absolutely why I LOVE this thread. You all are so kind and understanding. And personally have better advice than I have gotten anywhere else. I venture out every now and again to look at other posts and help where I can.

I woke @ 3am to kitties wanting to be fed. I did not give in to their demands and dozed back off with one stuffed under my arm lol. Woke again after a crazy motorcycle dream. Riding up a mountain in France and all these motorcyclists were coming at me around corners from the other direction. It was crazy but I pulled it off (in my dreams 😂)! Think the cats were voodoo magic, Jedi mind tricking me. I got up after that lol.
Looks like we have a few days of rain! Yippity skippity! :wee:celebrate:bow🌧🌧🌧 I will adjust accordingly 😁💕 I can hear the raindrops on the leaves now and the raptor noises as they all head for cover. Welp. Time to put on some water for coffee and check the monsters. Also kitties are ready for their 2nd morning feed. Don't want any more voodoo kitty magic for not obeying...

Kitty voodoo :lau oh I love it! Yes don’t upset the kitties!

And thank you btw! I crop out some of our mess too. 😂
We get these winds, these makane's that come down the valley and rip through ours property. They are wild micro bursts, mini tornado, big dust devil things that can send stuff flying. Fortunately for us they are somewhat predictable, summertime between 12-3:30. Unfortunately they blow all kinds of weird stuff under our house. Raised houses are a thing due to flooding and cooling in Hawaii. My husband has refused to let me or get on the band wagon to skirt our open space as he likes to store his crap under our house. It is a major embarrassment for me as it looks terribly tacky and disorganized and the sponges and towels that the wind blows under and then the chickens roost on and poop on. And my aunties house really needs a remodel- that I somehow feel responsible for even though I am third in line and newest on the scene to do anything about.
My repeated cheerleading on the subjects always go ignored so, I think I will just try and tackle the shop this cool season and not get upset (any longer) over things I don't have much control over. We are getting older by the minute and soon these things won't be doable. My logic is a clean and organized shop will do wonders right?!
Also... 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ I guess that is what the edit is for lol. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Just checking on ya @kurby22 to see how u r feeling!

have my kids planning our drive home and that's been interesting..
That sounds like a real adventure!!! Can't wait to hear all bout it! How many miles are you trusting them with? 🤔 are we talking like 250 or 500 or more?
And they come running to me when they see me…made me wanna cry. It’s kinda like going and picking up your preschooler or young kiddo from like daycare and they are running to you.
Awe that is precious!!! I can't let mine out cuz of stinkin hawks.

Thank yall for all your messages...it means more than you know!!! I'm gonna get back to Joey n see if I can figure something out.

I have been pondering the- When do you deworm or how do you know when you have worms?- question asked the other day when I was super busy and I gave a super quick fecal float answer.
My more thought out answer is, think things to look for are weight loss with a good appetite, feather condition- dull breaking outside of molt or premolt, comb color- nice and red vs pale, and overall health of flock and the obvious worm or egg sightings in poop of course. Sometimes you can see segments of the tape worm but that is if you have tapeworm.... there are other worms to be had.
If your chooks have access to earthworms, slugs and bugs they can pick up. Or if wild birds share feeders and waters, pooping in a waterer is a way that worms can be quickly shared.
I can check all of the boxes at my house. My chooks free range all day now and we have TO MANY wild birds sharing food and water and generally hanging out in their run. We don't have cold winters to kill anything off.

So, those are the really good reasons I stay up on my worming and I have had far less overall health problems with my flock since being more disciplined with my de-worming.
Sorry it took me so long to come back with a more substantive answer. Scraping my poop boards this morning I realized it was bugging me that I gave such a lackluster response.

Hey that's really helpful info! Mine don't get to get out of their run cause of stupid hawks and buzzards. I've literally had a hawk watch from high top a dead tree and then swoop down to get a d'uccle when I was just trying to get pics of em outside the run! I had that feeling it was bout to happen and sure enough by the time I got up and headed to get em he was swooping down then made a u-turn.
I hate it for em...but if they don't listen to me then I can trust em out like that.
I guess that's one reason I luv Joey so much. He listens to me. Yes he gets me whenever I enter the run...some days worse than others. I've tried holds, I've tried bachelor coop, I've done little bit of everything and it doesn't seem to make much difference. It's never so bad I can't pick him up and hold him. But I dont want the grandkids to be in there unless I put him up.
His toe stopped bleeding...he's just sitting. He ate some mash and I put nutridrench in it. In the morning I'll give him some poultry cell.
I'm gonna go get some vetericyn to clean it up good now that the bleeding has stopped and see bout giving him a good soaking and bath.
I'll have to wash Daisy this weekend I guess. Sure is difficult doing that kind of stuff by yourself.
I got the live trap cage set again so hopefully I'll catch one of the 2 coons or possum that plagued my yard and the trap last night!
I sure do appreciate yall!
