What did you do with your flock today?

So what happened to Joey? Did I miss something? 😬😬😬 he sounds like he will be ok?
I'm not sure what happened just that his foot was covered in blood and he got blood all over Daisy from mating. Some how his toenail is completely gone on his right foot.

On a positive note...I got 1 sucker!!! Prob 100 more to go but look at him all stuck in there! Now what to do with the dadgum thing!

Just checking on ya @kurby22 to see how u r feeling!

That sounds like a real adventure!!! Can't wait to hear all bout it! How many miles are you trusting them with? 🤔 are we talking like 250 or 500 or more?

Awe that is precious!!! I can't let mine out cuz of stinkin hawks.

Thank yall for all your messages...it means more than you know!!! I'm gonna get back to Joey n see if I can figure something out.
That is our problem. That and there isn’t much coverage for them. Pretty much everyone around here has an abundant amount of trees to help but not us. We are working on it but it will be a few years before they are big enough to help. And then I will have to watch for racoons up in the trees and hawks or owls making nests or anything. There is opossums around here but we haven’t seen much of them yet. I’m sure it’s coming…one was hit on the road a couple weeks ago when it was trying to cross the road.

We get these winds, these makane's that come down the valley and rip through ours property. They are wild micro bursts, mini tornado, big dust devil things that can send stuff flying. Fortunately for us they are somewhat predictable, summertime between 12-3:30. Unfortunately they blow all kinds of weird stuff under our house. Raised houses are a thing due to flooding and cooling in Hawaii. My husband has refused to let me or get on the band wagon to skirt our open space as he likes to store his crap under our house. It is a major embarrassment for me as it looks terribly tacky and disorganized and the sponges and towels that the wind blows under and then the chickens roost on and poop on. And my aunties house really needs a remodel- that I somehow feel responsible for even though I am third in line and newest on the scene to do anything about.
My repeated cheerleading on the subjects always go ignored so, I think I will just try and tackle the shop this cool season and not get upset (any longer) over things I don't have much control over. We are getting older by the minute and soon these things won't be doable. My logic is a clean and organized shop will do wonders right?!
Also... 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ I guess that is what the edit is for lol. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
Maybe you could skirt under the house but make it still accessible. That way he can keep it storage area but also will help keep things from blowing around. And your right! Clean and organized ALWAYS works out best.

We get dust devils around here but it sounds like yours are a lot stronger than mine. We moved from a house that had a 4 car garage to a house with absolutely no garage. So all the tools my husband has is in this little shed, in a metal box outside, just flat out in the weather, in our basement and on my back porch. Our plan is to build him a garage but it takes a lot to do and since there are other things that needed to be fixed in the house first, we want to have all the time in the nicer weather (spring) to work on it. And to top that off all the other things he stored in the garage doesn’t really have a home. It’s all a working progress but we couldn’t turn this house down. To get a home in the country just doesn’t happen very often in this area. Most of the time it is handed down in families. The guy we bought our home from had it in their family since it was built, over 100years. But we get consistent wind and we get all kinds of things blown around. I am attaching a picture of what is now behind the chicken coop and it’s nothing…absolutely nothing….the winds gonna get worse.

What was it? A coon or opossums?

Thats crazy!! How do you think you could have gotten such a thing?!
My best guess is—gross as it sounds—chicken poop or dog slobber 😩 I spend a lot more time hugging my chickens than most so I suppose it was just a matter of time 😣 I could be wrong, but I’m the only one sick and I have no other symptoms indicating a virus or illness. Just fatigue and close proximity to the bathroom. Like life hasn’t been crazy enough 😆😆
