What did you do with your flock today?

Like @Gammas Bearded Babies I had to look it up. What makes you think you have this? This is so scary to think about for me…
I have no other symptoms besides multiple trips to the bathroom, horrible cramping, and fatigue. It rules out a whole lot of things when you don’t have a fever and other classic illness symptoms. I also apparently had it as a baby so it was my mom who said she thought that might be what I have. Ughh. It’s not fun.

It's a possum! Though coon did come up later and dig EVERYTHING in and around there up to get at the bait ...so maybe he'll be next!
Have you been able to get rid of him yet? If it was me, I would kill him in the cage since they are so aggressive, unless you have a place you can drop him off and not get hurt doing so.

Oh that sucks!!! I haven’t ever had anything like that…food poisoning but nothing like your describing. I hope you get seen soon to start feeling better!

Well, the kids finally decided they want to go to Yosemite on the way home. With a scenic drive please and thank you. So we spent last night in a lovely motel in a small small town called Long Creek. There was a deer eating near the sign when I came out of the office.

Then this morning I go outside to potty the dogs and there's a deer eating next to the parking lot. Some kids passed by loaded down with their school gear and they didn't pause or comment on the deer. Just business as usual. When the deer noticed me, she actually came towards me...so I talked to her and told her how beautiful she is. She was so curious about me...like a chicken checking for treats. She circled one way, then another with her huge ears pricked towards me and those giant eyes glued to me. I think someone must offer the deer here goodies and it gave me a magical moment to start my day.❤️
Silly me wishes I'd had my camera to capture it ...though if I'd moved that much, I might have lost the moment....lol.

@Gammas Bearded Babies I'm entrusting them with planning out about 1,700 miles...eeks!

Sorry I'm not more responsive on everyone's posts! Love ya all though!

Sounds like you are having a fabulous time! Totally neat though that deer aren’t afraid. I have only been to one place where they aren’t skittish. Around here they are, even in town. There is one Momma Doe with her twin babies walking around. They tend to stay in the same area but I love watching them and seeing how much they have grown. I can’t find the one I took of when they were super little spotted babies but this is the last picture I have of them.

Yes my daughter, she's ALWAYS ready and willing to help me even with a 4 yr old 18 month old and pregnant)! She came and we went and I finally got the courage to open the trap door and let him go in her woods out in the country! Took me long time to get courage up to do it...but thank GOD he ran off and didn't come at us!!!
We'll see if I get the coon tonight!?!

That is awesome! I’m glad you were able to take him/her somewhere else. And safely. Your daughter is a rockstar! I’m always nervous when letting opossums and raccoon's out of live traps. If I have a good handle on it I don’t worry but it’s not like a cat you can just carry…you have to hold it away from you so it doesn’t get you. And letting them out is another story. Some are scared enough to run but, you can always have one ready to fight. My dad was a coon hunter and I had to tag along and when ever we trapped them and let them loose, he always had a .22 ready in case they wanted to fight.

Good luck tonight! I hope releasing the coon goes just as smoothly!

Good morning people :frow
8 pips this morning. I think I fired up the bator but was late to put the eggs in so we are basicly a day or 2 behind. Can't remember... that was 20 days ago and I have not had my coffee yet. 🙃

Yesterday I had to spend some time in the docs office with AJ. She is 89 and well, has a few issues. Today we go see the heart doc to get her pacemaker read. She has a slew of other things going on so it is going to be some trying weeks ahead. Wish me luck as I am not a patient person and a (haha) bit anti-social. AJ has a talking anxiety and she TALKS ALOT without saying much. It is really trying for me when she starts reading road signs or gossiping.

Now, back to chickens... I put the young teens in the roo coop to sleep last eve. Seems my (too many) numbers are starting to show. They like it fine and it gave me the opportunity to add vitamins and wet mash to their morning. Must have been nice for them to have a big deep bowl to themselves instead of getting chased away from one feeder or another.
I took Faith's charge last eve as he was in the mini coop cheeping away while Faith was near the nest boxes looking completely unconcerned. I don't think she is that into him and well, he is kind of a spoiled brat. So, in the day pen with chicks his size for today. Faith has moved on, not waiting outside, not clucking, just moved on with the flock. so much for all that fluffy real estate.

It is cloudy and they are calling for more rain. North shore had flood warnings yesterday and today is supposed to be wetter. I'm glad I will be driving my little truck instead of AJs sedan or DHs big truck. Its just the right size and clearance for the job.

Well, better get ready to head out. Have a good day all, travel safe and feel better all the way down to feathered toes. 🌴
