What did you do with your flock today?

Having fun outside and had to share. Sargent Schultz came to visit me in the garden today! Hoping he'll do like Nutters did and make garden hangout time part of his routine. Well, unless he starts bringing a ton of ladies with him...one chicken in the gardens a pleasure....a whole flock is destructive. 😭🤣View attachment 3346254Thought I'd share pics of my wild type poinsettias too before the freeze damages them. Friend gave me a start years ago and now they've naturalized. View attachment 3346257View attachment 3346259View attachment 3346260
He's such a handsome boy. Reminds me of my rescue boy, Alfie.

Those poinsettias are amazing. I can't keep them alive for love nor money, either that or the cats eat them! I know they're meant to be toxic but every cat I've ever had has chowed down on them with no ill effects.
I've seen photos of them in Mexico where they're 8ft tall. Just stunning!
What's the succulent type plant in the background in the last photo?

Inbetween bags bags and more bags I took some more glam shots of C&B so I can get them printed on canvas for the grandkids. Been doing this for about a week or so. This is what I came up with.View attachment 3346576View attachment 3346577
Had some fun second choices and a few funny of my little weirdos. I miss playing with them.View attachment 3346581
Then I got distracted by my dragon fruit and soursop, then had to get back to bags bags and more bags.

It was a nice reprieve. I have like 20 fruits on it now :ya:jumpy:jumpy:ya:wee:jumpy:bun:bun:ya
Beautiful pictures! Real glam looking ladies 😍

All our fruits are done for the year - except for two lemons which will likely drop off before winter's over.

She doesn’t seem to be staying this way. But some days she doesn’t mind me looking in on her while others she does. But today maybe because of the size of her egg. It’s HUGE compared to her regular eggs. I know I would be crabby too!!! The smaller egg is her normal sized egg, obviously the crazy big one is the one she laid today. Blows my mind how big it is. Poor girl!
That's eye-wateringly huge! Poor lady, no wonder she was grouchy - must have been like giving birth!

Those poinsettias are really neat! And survive freezes. Wild jade plants, too. Where are you located that you can grow these, and papayas?

Great pics! Hope the paintings come out as gorgeous and we get to see them! What a fun project ❤️

Wow! Have you candled it to see if it's a double yolker?

The succulent is elephant bush. It's actually edible...though only our beasties eat it.
Papayas? They must be in extra large pots! Glad you can grow them where you live. So delicious!
Big pots yep. This is the first year I've brought them in since the first year I grew them. Last winter I didn't cover them well enough and lost the tops off all my trees so they're much shorter now and branched. So bringing them in this year. Last year they wouldn't have fit in the house...now they do 🤣

Tucson, Arizona. We get an occasional overnight freeze but pretty warm overall.

Ducks are enjoying the garden again and still like to follow me around and nibble pond goodies off my hand. ❤️ It's been a year since they've had garden time so I wasn't sure if they still would. Makes me happy.
Putting them to bed was fun though! I went in their coop and started quacking to call them and one cat and two dogs came running in. The ducks threw a fit and chased them right out 🤣

@ChicksnMore 🦆💚 Your ducks and garden are a perfectly beautiful comedy. Love it!
Good job on the papaya. Know that can't be easy.
The canvas for the grandkids will just be a photo print. Sorry should have been more clear. I'm sure they will send me a photo of the photos 😆

@Shetland lover your kitties are trouble makers 😂😂 and probably responsible for some grey hairs. I'm surprised they don't get belly aches from the poinsettia and leave it alone. What a lovely menagerie 😸🐓 antics and all.

🌺Good morning and happy Sunday all.

We got a light rain this early morning but it looks like the clouds will clear with the sun.
I'm going to put the well water on some of the yard today as our next good rain is not due until the end of the week.
Though it is barely light as I write the flock is out and about again, must have walked towards the glow. The run was lit up like an airport from the early risers/winter light deniers triggering the motion sensors.
Another heavy push on the bags for me. I did collect a few different bags the other day and it is always fun to work with a new style, it inspires a bit.

My pride 🐈🐅🐈🐅🐈 is ready for its 2nd morning feed and also time to put on the water for some coffee.

One thing that is hitting me like a ton of bricks is my crossed beak cockerel. I know he needs to be culled. I know the time is here, probably should have done it months ago... I wanted to see if it was possible to trim him enough to give some kind of quality for as long as possible. Well, the time is upon me. I trimmed his beak last eve. He felt too thin. My solution was to put him in the big cage with soften feed, m worms and vita water. He was not able to chow down on much even with a deep dish of soft food and worms. After a few hours I let him out and he ran to a feeder and was able to eat for awhile but obviously I have to collect the courage and do the deed. I like him a lot, he is really sweet and handsome so this is going to hurt. I'm sad and avoiding it. ☹☹☹
