I did use a plain old needle and yes has to be black about 8 inches of thread

I’ve been painting chicken portraits recently. So far I’ve only finished one, but the second one is almost done. I’m hoping to eventually paint all of my birds, both past and present, but that’ll be a while. I think I’ve had a total of 41 chickens.
I was supposed to finish my second painting today, but we adopted a dog! Her name is Harley, she’s an 8yo boxer.

We’re still figuring out how she’ll do with the birds, but in the mean time she’ll stay on a leash when she’s outside.

Great photo- I love your hair cut!- and a big congrats to all on the new family member! I sure hope she is a good girl and team player so all can stay smooth. So risky with the pooches but look at that face- who can resist that?!! Just a beautiful puppy!

Hi gang!
Been wheeling and dealing at the M estate.
Just finished my last hatch and sold 8 out of the 13 (out of 15) VERY happy with how they look.

Have a gal coming tomorrow to pick up 4 of the 1 month olds that I was planning on hanging onto but it is working out for me to sell the big littles and keep the little littles.

Working on my brooder so I can lend it out. ...?

Releasing my broody out of jail and hoping her 3 days and 2 nights worked.

My microscope for checking poop is in the mail!!!

Kittens are awesome fun, an absolute crack-up and blast.

Chickens have been FULL of drama the last couple of days with the exception of one quiet day in-between the drama when I swear it was a result of them wearing themselves out with all of the yelling they had been doing the day b4 (sorry neighbors ).


I literally had 9 girls at the egg barn screaming at once for hours... today is not that much better. Caught Princess Peaches and Spider in my storage container after throwing out all of the clean brooder towels. Maybe TODAY is the day one or two of them lowers themselves to use the main coop nest box with all of the fresh nesting materials and new breezy door that I made for them special...

It is beautiful and drizzly here. My favorite kind of day. Got a few boards scraped and a few feeders filled. Since it is raining I will scrap outside work till the threat of rain clears

It was about 94F here yesterday and one of the hens got stuck in the nest box! Her talon was down in the nest pad of the roll our nest box

It is a good thing I checked on them when I turned on the misting system.

@ronott1 Poor thing but glad she was rescued in a timely manor! Our hero!!!

Well, I got the old brooder up and running good enough for now so I put my littles in it the last few days. He he he. I will do a little more sanding and possibly a little more painting on it later today. IDK, my friend who wanted it has not texted back so maybe he does not need it any more, people.

This morning I kept the girls in the run to give them a break from Spider and then let all of the boys out to wander, exercise and obsess about the girls locked in the run. Gave the littlest littles some dirt in a small dish that they gobbled and played with. Funny how they instinctively know to do that. Put the 2 L. brahma littles in the brooder on the grass under some shade, let the big littles in the garden with the 4mo cockerel and Spider. I felt soooo smart and on top of it. It was absolutely quiet with no drama- everybody was happy. About 3 hours later I reversed the process with no complaints. Lovely.

I had another hen go broody, making it my 3rd in 3 weeks. She was sounding like Peter Pans crocodile for the last week or so, hysterical little gal and I was not completely surprised by it, though it is unfortunate. I really hope she does not make it her habit.
