What did you do with your flock today?

@ChicksnMore your daughter named her babies well- especially Billybob I totally got it. Very nice looking bunch btw ♡.
Yesterday's rose bud looked wonderful too, how was it today?

Went down the mountain this morning to sell some eggs, do some chores, and pick up supplies. I asked my Koke'e neighbor to please keep his ears open for me. He breads Labrador's and they are good at sounding the alarm when something is not right. So I brought him a bag of starfruit and dragon fruit in trade for his ears, should have brought bones instead. The fruit was a big hit for both families ♡ Our tree is loaded and the fruit extra sweet this summer.

Let the flock out to freerange after unloading, Forest and I helped Spider keep watch.

Also brought up my meal worms and extra boxes so I can baby, split and grow my colonies. Excited to play with them again.

Next week I will start collecting eggs for my next hatch. Got a few folks waiting and I also got a few roos sold!

Busy day making money and happy neighbors! I spent the past hour watching for rodents to see where we need to shore up predator proofing! Little buggers are getting much more brazen! I’m thinking I need a Forest kitty of my own! My chickens are big wimps too, no bugs or rodents for them! Probably start honking and hide if the rodents got in

I had the kids close up coops tonight and just happened to decide to rodent watch tonight. I’m glad I did because one of the coops was sitting wide open I don’t check on them like I used to at night, but might start again! So glad I decided to go look in on them!

So walked up the road to get a photo for you folks cuz it is just so darn pretty up here. I decided to stop by the tree house to check on the family to see if they were ok and ask one more time if they could be sure to secure their pups. The husband was there and he had to be the nicest, salt of the earth, total kind soul. So, instead of dlnr I'm going to pack them a basket of fresh papaya and star fruit from our yard and some fresh eggs lol. Think they would like that and I'd feel way better about asking for support instead of demanding.
Sometimes I just forget how well GOOD karma works as opposed to self will run wild.

That's so funny! My birds are the opposite...I tried giving them ice and they wouldn't go near that bowl until it melted...but they love standing in plain water!
Gosh that bird is a stunner! I definitely want to get some of those...because I'm nuts and really need more birds right? But none the less...just seeing him makes my heart smile.

O wow that view is to die for! Thank you so much for sharing it Hawaii is such a beautiful place and you get to enjoy both the ocean side and the mountains! Sounds as close to an ideal life as a person can get.

I absolutely love how your handling your situation. When you said there was a baby there as well living in a tree house...it must be a scary time for that family. I hope it all works out well for both you and them. Can I just say thank you for being you?

I spent the day on the garden again. My helper was busy today...so maybe tomorrow I pulled apart a lot of the coop I pulled out though. Planted some green beans, yellow squash and some kind of Japanese squash that sounded yummy... forgotten the name, but I kept the seed packet. It was teasing us on rain again and actually did sprinkle a little...I think maybe 30 drops fell Just enough for me to leave my phone inside!
So instead of chicken pics... I'll share pics of my oldest daughters kitty. This is Maggie...she's named for the female boxer in Million Dollar Baby. She loves to bat people in the face while purringView attachment 3206215View attachment 3206217

And I think you are perfectly normal to want more chickens! I know I am normal and want more chickens sooo you must be too! Any rain in summer in the hot desert is something to celebrate!! I hope you get enough so everything gets that fresh wet earth and vegetation smell. It’s one of my favorite smells just after the rain

@ChicksnMore I have a major problem wanting MORE too! Idk what I'm gonna do. I used to worry n fret bout my boy crowing.. now I worry n fret if neighbors are counting all the names I say out loud!!!
@kurby22 it is good you checked! I dont think mine would do anything either but squat and be statues! Lolol

Anyways Joey is in bachelor coop and NOT a happy boy. Had to go out after dark last night and sit him back up in lil coop on roost and close the door to the run even more so he didn't break out again.
Then got up this morning to let him down and once he found his way out he came straight for me.
I really do not wanna get rid of him! His size, shape and colors are near perfection for what I was wanting in breeding.
Even though I said I wasn't gonna breed!
Idk I get so excited seeing everyone's babies havin babies it makes me wanna be able to do it and mix and match the colors and see what pops out!

IDK. I'm pretty content with my flock, think it is even a little bit too big but love everyone and their antics and the dynamics... I mean maybe a split flock would be perfect right?
Alas, I'll be collecting eggs this week for hatching lol. I think I NEED a few (because you can not have just 1 or even 2) Buff B X RSL pullets of my own just for research and product knowledge.

@kurby22 thank goodness for instincts! I'm soooo glad you checked and closed coop so that gets to be yestereves story ♡ not another so much gratitude for the kinder lessons.

Today my hubby sent me photos of chicken poop because he was worried one of the girls had bad poop. Well, yes, all poop is pretty bad, especially the Cecal he was worried about. But what the heck hubby ♡♡♡?! The house and yard were perfect when I came down yesterday and now chicken poop photos?! I'm like falling in love all over again. True story lol. the man is a total keeper!
