Billybob actually came to us prenamed from a neighbor. She was on her third bout with cancer when he got his eye punctured. So she asked us to care for him while he healed. It took 2 months of nursing to get him healed up and by then our friend knew she was terminal and my daughter was in love. He's her stuffed animal that poops and cries like he's dieing if she doesn't hold him when she's home.@ChicksnMore your daughter named her babies well- especially BillybobI totally got it. Very nice looking bunch btw ♡.
Yesterday's rose bud looked wonderful too, how was it today?
Went down the mountain this morning to sell some eggs, do some chores, and pick up supplies. I asked my Koke'e neighbor to please keep his ears open for me. He breads Labrador's and they are good at sounding the alarm when something is not right. So I brought him a bag of starfruit and dragon fruit in trade for his ears, should have brought bones instead. The fruit was a big hit for both families ♡ Our tree is loaded and the fruit extra sweet this summer.
Let the flock out to freerange after unloading, Forest and I helped Spider keep watch. View attachment 3206296
Also brought up my meal worms and extra boxes so I can baby, split and grow my colonies. Excited to play with them again.
Next week I will start collecting eggs for my next hatch. Got a few folks waiting and I also got a few roos sold!
Mine are freocious about miceBusy day making money and happy neighbors!I spent the past hour watching for rodents to see where we need to shore up predator proofing! Little buggers are getting much more brazen! I’m thinking I need a Forest kitty of my own! My chickens are big wimps too, no bugs or rodents for them! Probably start honking and hide if the rodents got in
I had the kids close up coops tonight and just happened to decide to rodent watch tonight. I’m glad I did because one of the coops was sitting wide openI don’t check on them like I used to at night, but might start again! So glad I decided to go look in on them!
Hey yall good morning!
Luvly views you have @TropicalBabies . I would never grow tired of that!!!
@ChicksnMore I have a major problem wanting MORE too! Idk what I'm gonna do. I used to worry n fret bout my boy crowing.. now I worry n fret if neighbors are counting all the names I say out loud!!!
@kurby22 it is good you checked! I dont think mine would do anything either but squat and be statues! Lolol
Anyways Joey is in bachelor coop and NOT a happy boy. Had to go out after dark last night and sit him back up in lil coop on roost and close the door to the run even more so he didn't break out again.
Then got up this morning to let him down and once he found his way out he came straight for me.
I really do not wanna get rid of him! His size, shape and colors are near perfection for what I was wanting in breeding.
Even though I said I wasn't gonna breed!
Idk I get so excited seeing everyone's babies havin babies it makes me wanna be able to do it and mix and match the colors and see what pops out!
Now that's carazy @ChicksnMore !
That is exactly my problem. I see babies whether it is in Rural King or Tractor Supply and then I want some. I bought two Khaki Campbell Duckies in February in Rural King and had them living in my living room until the end of March. Talk about being dropped on my head!!! LOL I get addicted to hatching and babies and get myself in trouble. I have a dozen right now and it is not cheaper by the dozen but I can't get myself to let go of any. Two of my Drakes are in Drake Jail but their choice was Drake Jail or Freezer Camp. They love Drake Jail, LOL.Hey yall good morning!

Such pretty chickens. Do you know what color your rooster is? Would that be wheaten? I sure love his colors whatever there called.I actually had a cat nap for a hour .. I think the 90+ temps we have had for week have been hard for me. We do not cool off at night is the worst part ..View attachment 3206981View attachment 3206982
I'm gonna have to try that...it sounds easy. Our "guest bedroom" has become a storage room and I bet I can find room on a shelf for a box of them! I tried raising Dubai roaches and crickets without much success...not sure why I've never tried mealies.@ChicksnMore In response to the meal worm question. It think they are easy, inexpensive, plus I really enjoy raising them myself.
I was a little apprehensive at first because our house is literally almost a tiny house w/ 540sq inside 720 w/ decks and 2 people, 1 dog and 5 cats. I never need another project, more clutter or anything that squiggles also worried it could be a disaster.
I started w/ 200-300 worms I put in a 5x8 reused plastic container that my husband's lunch meat came in and melted holes on the lid for air. Substraight/food and be oat, bran, chicken feed. I use red bran flakes from the feed store. Moisture/drink can be sliced potatoes, carrots... almost anything. I use carrots. Also, a piece of cardboard to absorb mousture. I used papertowl and TP center cardboard till I found the nice egg carton cardboard. Then I just let them evolve and make babies. Lots of youtube on it and I found it way easier and enjoyable than I expected AND the bigger boxes that we grew into all fit on shelves in the shop. They like dark... dark beetles are the parents of mealworms lol. They most always surprise me with how well they do pretty much on their own.
