What did you do with your flock today?

Oh, that's right... you drive kids.. or they drive you ♡♡♡ I think you get a hall pass for your good service. Yikes, but that ice! I forgot about those things and oh how I don't envy you 😕 that sounds brutal. I do hope you never slip again. So dangerous!
Thank you my friend, I do have ice cleats and use them but it still can be pretty dangerous and not having any place to throw out the old water from the heated buckets makes it even worse. It turns to ice right away with our winter temperatures. It makes it an adventure to take care of these beautiful ducks that I love so much, lol. I do eat their eggs daily so they are the only pet that I have ever had that I feed them and they feed me, lol. I love the kids on the bus and bore them with all of my duck stories so we have a good time together. They keep me thinking I am still young, lol. I still ride 4 wheelers and jump on trampolines because my brain has not caught up with my age yet, lol. Bless their little hearts.

Good morning gang!
Yesterday I loaded and unloaded a small load of mulch that is fairly is close by. Having a closed coop with no poop boards in a cooler climate is a different game. Poop takes long to dry and attracts gnats and flies. I have been using the deep litter method up here with decent results. The mulch is terrific as I have a pretty endless supply so can be heavy handed.

Also, night b4 last I was able to install my 2nd set of security cameras that I ordered- then got lost at our PO but then found again- 1st and only for up here and a real comfort at night. Chick and egg sales paid for this one 😉

Got sidetracked with dog stuff so forgot to put that in my chicken report 😂
🌺Happy aloha hippee day!

I moved sand for a while this morning for my coop. They tell you not to make your ducks walk on anything that you would not be able to walk on comfortably bare footed. I think mulch would poke my feed as ducks feet are so sensitive so that is why I use sand. I have to replenish it yearly as it gets messy so I order more and move it into their large pen. They seem to love it and that is also their grit. I have never had bumble foot on any of them so it seems to be working for me. I am glad that the mulch works well for you. Happy aloha hippee day to you also my friend.

We have no humidity here as a given hovers around 30.
I spent my first 8 years in Wisconsin I know humidity.
Just one of may reason to stay out here. :celebrate
I have a grown son that has been ill his whole life. We have great medical care for him here and his doctors all know him so I am more or less stuck with the humidity. After a while it just kind of sticks to you if you know what I mean, clothes and all!!! LOL

Luv the sand! I'm only one year into duck keeping so no experience with bumble foot. I read about it and have been trying to keep their area raked free of rocks (a never ending battle) and when we had three ducks that all grew up together, using a big stock tank worked great because they spent almost all their time in it. Now that we've kept some babies... they're not staying in the water as much and it's not staying clean enough so having to rethink their set up. Luckily we have tons of free sand in our wash.
Good morning to all of you .. Our temps are back to normal here again. 72 is the high temp today :frow
So glad it's cooling for you...72 is perfect weather for me. 😍

@TropicalBabies My daughter made mesquite flour pancakes this morning and she said to tell you when she grinds the beans, there's always a little that doesn't grind and that's normal. Just sift out the bits and chuck em. She also said to pay attention to the grinders temp...stop and let it cool if it's heating up.
Almost out of flour already!

You are so lucky to have free sand. I put out over 2 hundred dollars for mine this year but it was worth it not to slip and slide in the duck pen anymore. I have to replace it periodically but luckily our local hardware store can deliver it to me. I bought 4 tons and meant to only get two. I forgot how much I usually buy and went overboard. Oh well, enough for next year too. I love using sand for them.
