What did you do with your flock today?

After over a week of trying to break a 7-month-old pullet that decided to go broody, I put her in "Chicken Jail" today. She doesn't like but it's to hot and she is to young for that. Maybe by Monday morning she will be ready to join the flock again.
Well, I let her out last night about 8:20, she walked around a few minutes, got a drink and went straight to the coop and got on the roost. She has been out with the rest of the flock all day today acting like a normal hen and never went to a nest box, so I guess chicken jail worked. : )

Adorable!

We have a big old pine in our yard that hawks and ravens love to hang out in. Today's visitor was a red tailed hawk (I think). Harris hawks are the ones we see the most. Not the best pics... took them from inside the kitchen and through the screen. Pretty bird though. Boy my spangles were alarm calling like crazy!View attachment 3215102View attachment 3215103View attachment 3215105
Very beautiful and rather alarming! 😬 glad it was just there for a photo op and not a snack 😁

NICE!

Oh gosh it came down in buckets again last eve. Chickens were only safe and dry in their trailer coop.
Today has been sunny and wonderful. Did a nice clean up in the run, dh came up and we went on a great walk and then a few chores after lunch. Went and dropped off fruit and composted poop to neighbors. Then I had a follow up for one of my cockerels. He gets to live on 4 acres in beautiful Kilauea with 15 hens of his very own. Yippee! And then I let the flock out to free range with me.

Then treated them to mealworms b4 bed.

@Gammas Bearded Babies you sure got an adorable picture though!

@Mr Spot so glad it worked ❤️

@TropicalBabies Me too! Pretty sure what I'm trying will be safe though. Won't make for pretty pictures because it's an ugly part of our yard...but will make happy chickens. Knock on wood.

You have some lucky chickens there. The forest beyond your clearing makes me want to go for a walk. 😍

Woah! Those are some seriously beautiful Chickens. And that Rooster, my goodness is he amazing or what?!! whatever your doin', keep doin that! :love
my gold laced Wyanotte(sp) looks Identical to yours but maybe mines legs look a tad longer. SO beautiful! I can look at them all day. I've gotten used to "you can look but dont touch us, unless we ask. lol

Worked on the pond a few days ago and started the fence for the ducks. Only the littles can swim in the pond since the big ones will escape and are hard to catch. Won’t be long before they can go in it.

Put up some tarps for the chickens so they had more shade. But they didn’t care. They stayed under their coop the whole time. Deep shade it is then….oh well. I need to have some cover for the little babies when I start taking them out their to be introduced to the older ones. They are only about 9 weeks older than the babies, so my hopes are it will go smooth.
