What did you do with your flock today?

I have wanted to get some with the pretty tails but I don’t see them staying pretty unless I would put them separate from everyone. And I wouldn’t want to do that. I hope one day you can get a yoko roo one day! When you do I want pictures lol
Same here....I kinda want to have those incredible tails but don't want to isolate birds that way.
Happy Friday! Last day of 100+ degrees for the next 10 days! 🎉🎉🎉 it actually cooled down enough for me to spend a bit of time with the babies 🥰
Yay! 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

Your awful heatwave has been all over the news...I hope those temps stay gone!

Beautiful pictures as always ❤️❤️❤️ I love the little girl peeking out at you... it'd make a good "caption this" photo!

I hope you can find them a home. The lady I got the calls from originally had a hard time finding them homes. I don’t know what she has left, if any. I’m hoping for at least a pair when the coop is done. But I don’t want to contact her before we get it done just in case we can’t finish it for one reason or another before winter. But she took orders for babies and then all of them backed out. Know though she is going to require a deposit. Which I would totally do for more calls. Anyway, I’m wondering if it’s just some off year or something. She said she normally didn’t have a hard time finding them homes and it kinda seems like you might be too. Maybe you will start getting hits on it soon.
I'm new to selling and not sure if I priced em well. The first round the older birds went slowly but did all sell and the babies were gone in two blinks. This time I want them rehomed by October so maybe I should drop the price. But I don't want to price them cheaper then a frozen table duck either. I talked to Bert last night and he said yep, will come, please save me some of the black ones...lol. So I definitely won't be keeping a black bibbed pair, I'll save those for him 😭🤣😍... which is probably for the best...but I kinda wanted too...but I'm kinda glad I'm not...lol. No crazy here right? 🤣 Anyhow, I'm glad I know so many bird lovers with lots of room and no desire to butcher.

Good morning gang and 🌺HAPPY COOLER TEMPERATURES @kurby22
🌬🌡 You made it!!! ♡♡♡ Yeeeeeeehaaaaa!
And Happy Aloha Friday all! 😁

@Gammas Bearded Babies do you think your gal may be having a little reproductive hang up being she is close to POL? If you give her some calcium it could not hurt. I know it would be hard for you to give her an Epsom salt soak. Poor girl, she is beautiful and I hope she feels better soon ♡

I like the way you think @ChicksnMore . It would be a shame to isolate a loved bird for human vanity. Wait, that is kind of a harsh statement but I think you may know what I am saying ♡♡♡ I would be very torn myself, though my boys get isolated for other reasons 😂🤣😅 Well, in any case I bet you need a break from coop building 👷‍♀️

@FBMcrazy8 you have so much going on! Where do you find the energy?!! I think your duck pen looks strong and amazing and you guys did a great job. I secretly hope you guys work on it more so you will post more photos.
Goats sound amazing and I would if I could just so I could make things for them to climb on and impress my grand kids. Plus my DH loves goats and making him happy is fun.

Considering what I have seen at hatchery rate, like not hatchery but that’s what I would call it. Depending on the breed you want and if you want show quality I have seen it from anywhere of $150-201 for a pair. The lady I bought them from had the babies at $10, the juveniles before being able to be sexed was like $15 and then a sexed pair is only $50. But there isn’t ANYONE around here that sells call ducks. She even had to drive about 2+ hours away to get her own started. I think her price is perfect. Cause I'm honestly not looking for show quality either.

Im glad and sad that you are going to be getting rid of your bibbed babies. That is actually the same ones she wouldn’t sell. I respected that cause I was really wanting white and silver. But honestly at this point I would take anything she has 😂. Hopefully you can sell more of your babies. I would take a few from you but it kinda sounds like your aren’t very close to me 😭😭😭😭

Yestermorn I was up early reworking my first bags. Man, I did a terrible job- and I was so proud too lol. Well, got them to a "bag my eggs sales and giveaways in them" place and am happy with that cuz that is what I set out to do in the first place 🤔💡😂

Boo Bike was finally ready for pick up last eve, so I cleaned up my obsessive mess intime to do chicken chores and have my heat lamp sitter come up so I could leave to pick up Boo.
I was able to pick up a bunch more bags from our local feed store and I gave her a finished bag that she was pretty thrilled about. So still rolling on those. We also filled 3- 5 gal propaininthe arse tanks. DH's wrist is still messed up from his last toss so I got to do the honors lol. Surprisingly not sore today. Oh! Boo runs fabulously! I got a quick spin and am thrilled- like a whole new bike! It was quick cuz Mechanic was late, so we were late, and that made me late to relieve heat lamp sitter. Don't like not being good to my word. Well, chicks should be able to use a heating pad soon. Not sure why they did not like from the beginning... but they didn't so I used the lamp but don't like it unsupervised.

I wish I had as much energy as it may seem. 😂 I would love to suck some energy from my kids. I was hoping to work more on the duck coop this weekend but I don’t know if we will have the time I would like to. My husband was asked to help move a ladies stuff out of her house. She is going into a retirement home and they need to sell it. We are doing that today and tomorrow for sure. Luckily we have a big trailer so it shouldn’t take too long. Some of the family is supposed to be getting what they want out soon but who knows. Anyway, here’s a picture from adding the second set of fencing. We were going to do kinda like a hoop top with PVC piping and then place netting over the top but we aren’t sure how strong that will be. So we may just put a post in the middle like we did our chicken coop, with some kind of umbrella top to it, and then put the netting on. It would get it done faster that way but we also already spent the money on the PVC and all the fittings. I’m not sure yet but my husband is pretty quick with plumbing. 🤷‍♀️ We shall see 😁

As far as goats go, I REALLY want them but I have a feeling that if this guy doesn’t give us more info soon, we are going through a 3rd person, I may have to wait until the spring. But that’s ok! You should get some goats! I bet they would be so much fun for you all! It would be a blast building them things to climb on and play on!!

I love the bag idea! I’m honestly considering doing it myself. I always need bags for something, especially with the kids and after school sports now.

I’m so glad that your bike is done! That is awesome! And sorry your DHs wrist isn’t better yet. I know how you feel about the lamps. Honestly though after a while with the first 18 I didn’t worry too much. But I was always checking it just in case it moved and would have caught something on fire. I have considered a heat plate but I haven’t come across any at the farm stores near me.

Ouch @kurby22 that is a sad molt. Poor baby ♡♡♡ she will perk up and look stunning in no time. Those hard molts are tuff to witness 😥 I'm sorry. And with the added stress of the heat. So glad you may have just made it through the worst 🤞🤞🤞🤞
Yeah, so she’s inside now and sleeps all the time…I feel very sad for her and not sure what all to do for her! She’s getting vitamins, water, quiet and AC to keep her less stressed…but her eyesight complicates everything. 😩 I’m really hoping she bounces back soon, I hate seeing her so sad. 😣

Yep... definitely on the same page there❤️

Hey! That's the same prices I'm using! Well...except I'm only doing hatchlings and sexed pairs. I looked and table ducks sell for about $20 for a frozen bird. So I decided $50 for a sexed pair let's me offer unpaired sexed birds for $20. Figured it helps ensure no one's looking for a cheap dinner. Anyways...I'm glad my pricing isn't crazy.
I'd be happy to just give you some if you were closer. Keep in mind the egg offer come spring if you want to try hatching though. I'll probably forget, but shoot me a pm in the spring to remind me if you're interested then.

Well I sure thought those first bags looked great!
I'm glad Boo's ready to rumble! 😍

Poor baby! I've never had a bird with bad eyes...I can only imagine how hard that must be for her!

Well, I'm taking a break on the back porch and getting eaten alive by mosquitoes. So I better get moving again so I'm less of an easy target 🤣.
