Vampires is such a good name for the brooder babies...lol.Glory days and happy chickens! @kurby22 must have felt terrific especially after all that hard work! Did you hear the doors close last eve?lol ♡♡♡ flock is looking gorgeous and very enjoyable
@grammasBB how fun to be enjoying family. How are you feeling lately? Not overdoing it I hope. How long until a complete heal?
Welp. I had 9 out of 36 bags left last eve. I am officially out of my poly thread up here but ordered and am taking the chicks and heading down the mountain this morning. Will pick up my mail and head to Lihue town with DH. Need feed. Chooks feel neglected though they have been freeranging pretty much all day long. I just miss them. House and yard need my attention too.
Raised the heat lamp yesterday so am on 3am vigil lol. The vampires seem good, bouncing and chasing an occasional moth. I think I hear an occasional "I'm cold" beeps but all are very active and there are warmer spots. They are 2.5 weeks and the temperature is 61°. I have another order for chicks so some of the 27 eggs are pre homed.
I'm starting to move plants around trying to get everything outdoors before we leave. I'm looking so forward to seeing all the family, but a tad worried about all my beloved plants. Hubby wants our neighbor outside only, some of my plants can't take outdoors and hubby has a black thumb, tends to leave doors open and and... he'll do fine though I'm sure. Plants are replaceable...it's just some of them are over 30 years old. I'm literally gonna cry if they die. But...he really will do fine I'm almost sure.

Schultz crowed this morning! His first crow since he got sick. His tails still very much to the side and he's still not perching to sleep though. But I was happy to hear him crow. None of my Yokos actually crow a lot, so it's doesn't mean as much as with most chickens...but none the less, it's good.
My youngest has been toting around a peachick and a month old baby rooster and just loving them up. Her rooster died last year so I told her she can keep him if she'd like. At 17, I was kinda hoping she'd just stick to her remaining hens...but I am enjoying watching her joy in them. I think my oldest coop will become hers once I get my new ones finished up closer to the house. It's the one I never go out to anymore. I wish she'd let me take a picture of her!
