What did you do with your flock today?

I have and constantly do and think a higher fence and peace of mind is terrific. For me it is part of the fun- staying active, present and ever evolving with our flocks ♡.
What surprised me, as an adult raising chickens is all of the constant work. Good work.

I just read that Hawaii doesn't acknowledge it either. CA laws get weirder by the day.

We do cept it is recognized for the Polynesians discovering Hawaii. Columbus does not mean much to us lol.

Another day of cleaning up their poop with NO help from them!

I then sat with them on this gorgeous autumn day. The high was almost 70 here in Maine today. Yup, not lying ha! My cockerel is getting more and more tame with me. You can see him pictured literally SUNBATHING on my legs they are all about 9 weeks give it take a few days

They are totally helping. Without them you couldn't do it!!

Family came to pick up their babies this morning so somehow I ended up scrubbing all of my coops not wanting to be embarrassed by messy chicken coops. Feels great as always!

I wish I could show you their cute faces. Terrific family. Lucky chickens ♡♡♡
Dad built a brooder last eve so they could keep them on their lanai till everyone is ready to let them go to the coop.
I held 4 back as 2 pullets need to go to Kalaheo, one is dh's (probably a roo) and one for insurance. I some how feel a tad lighter without a chick mob. Gunna go let them out to play in the day pen now.

How many of you have changed your layouts over even a couple of years?

Couple years?! OMGeeze try 5 times in a year!!! Absolutely insane...no wonder my DH gets aggravated at me!!
But hey if he had listened the 2nd and 3rd time we could have avoided the 4th and 5th times...just saying

What an awesome place and flock you have! Just lovely . Is it getting cold already? Still looks lovely, green and fresh. Barred Rocks are terrificly smart chickens.

Thanks! I’m a bit embarrassed at the feed bag coverings on the pop doors. I put them up during a windy storm - after dark- without a working headlamp. In summer, the popdoors have double hardware cloth instead of solid doors, for best ventilation. Today, we put solid doors on all but the 1 they use most. There’s been frost on the ground! We have 1 Barred rock (our littlest angel!), and 4 Brahmas. The rooster is a ……. Handsome boy!

Heck, stapled cut feed bags is my normal. No weight on the hinges, perfect weather protector and the cost and travel time is awesome.
