What did you do with your flock today?

Well, went back to bags. Finished up the 2 last ones for the restaurant and cut about a dozen for the hotel. Did take a break a few times to connect with the chooks and took some photos. View attachment 3294065

Hope jumped into the mini coop with 5 other hens and the grey & BR chicks tonight.
Spider and Beetle both roost in the main coop about 3 feet from each other surrounded by girls. Everything is calm.... but we have to wash down poop 3-5 times a day lol
I love all the beautiful pictures of your flock and all the babies! 😍 The blackish gray stripy one is really pretty, I’m a fan! I think I love mixed chickens almost more than the pure bred ones! So many unique colors, patterns, and feather placements! Pure breeds are also valuable but mixed sure are fun for my creative brain! ❀️❀️

Oh wow! I've always wanted to try soursop, having read how good it is, but it's not something you can get in the U.K. We do grow figs, apples, plums, peaches, grapes, kiwis, jostaberries and lots of other soft fruit. I'm so envious of your space and your beautiful chickens.
I had my first taste 1979 in Mexico. It was terrific, and they imediately became a favorite though a rarity. I am so happy to have a tree and plan to get at least 1 more. I can not grow much on your list but enjoy what works in my area. We have some good choices πŸ˜‰

Thanks! 😬 I do very much LOVE the doors…they might be the best thing I’ve bought since getting chickens! Not having to argue with the children every night and morning about helping close all the coops up! I just love that they put themselves to bed! It’s way easier than my own children πŸ˜†
I only have one coop with birds in it and my husband is trying to get one for me. I kinda like going out and doing it but there are nights that I am having to stop what I’m doing to go shut their door. I don’t trust my kids yet to go do it. They would forget something and I would loose them. Eventually my kids will fight me doing it if I made them do it all the time. I got β€œyou wanted them” whenever I had them help me when I was cleaning their brooder.

Yeah, with all the activities and occasional travel, I worry way less about the chickens at night now! When it gets dark by 5 pm in winter, it will be nice to not have to rush home on a Saturday night to close coops! I highly recommend them! I still go out and check on everyone, and sit with them before bedtime but one less thing is lovely! 😍

Ahh yes, I too get the β€œyou wanted them, why do I have to help?” Fortunately Aria is worse than me so I can just tell her it means we rehome the roosters…and she’s back on board! πŸ˜† Dylan and Scott are less swayed by my threats! So I bribe Dylan often with screen time to help with them haha. Today he was a big help and got a whole hour on the tablet. ❀️

That would be nice! Especially with my 2 oldest doing sports. My oldest though has her last cheer this Friday. But my second oldest games go kinda late. But I think with ducks I would have to make sure they get into their house. I know they can be trained but the ducks I had…they were so scared of me. I would put my hand down with food and you would think they were being murdered. I would put treats in their brooders and they wouldn’t touch it. Like corn…nope…peas…nope….watermelon…nope. NOTHING. So i had no idea how i was going to get them into the house without chasing them. I’m hoping this next set will be a little easier on me and give me a chance.

Right now I think my kids would be helpful, at least I hope because it just hit me that I think I’m getting sick. 😩 I hate being sick cause nothing gets done around here. But my kids don’t get tablets but TV they do. However, my kids are a lot like my younger brother….money…money talks to them 🀣

I'll try anything once 😁 Our climate is too cold to grow anything tropical outside but if I can convince them to get through the winter I have passion fruit and pineapple guava to try outside come spring. My chickens love the cherries, grapes and figs we grow in the back garden. At the moment, it's great fun watching my little Cochin bantam roo jumping 5ft in the air to snag grapes for his ladies. Not a photo of him jumping, I'm afraid:

Today's our last day in Washington and then we start a slow, sight seeing drive home. We got to see my nephew and his new baby yesterday, visited my brother and his new family the day before, and did a little shopping as well.

I am intensely tired but so happy...lol. Hoping to get to sleep early tonight as tomorrows a driving day.

Here's a pic of a herd of big horn sheep we got to see. These guys are wild and totally unafraid of people.
