What did you do with your flock today?

O that's awful. Will you have to wait until after Christmas then? I'm worried for you. ☹️ Hope you guys stay warm enough!
Probably now we will! They didn’t deliver yesterday…obviously, so we called today. They have no idea why they haven’t delivered, and they can’t tell us ANYTHING but, we will put a note in. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! You do know how cold it is right?!? I just really thought they would be faster with this. I’m thinking after this, we may very well go with a different company. We need something better than what we have going on. And I do understand that there are MANY other people needing deliveries. HOWEVER, to be as big of a name as they are, I would seriously think they would have WAY more drivers out there and getting the propane out to the customers in a more timely manner. If for some reason we have it go out, we do have electric heaters, electric fireplace in mine and my husband bedroom, 2 electric blankets and LOTS of other blankets. And we would have to cuddle with some fluffy puppies.

Luckily it is “warming” up. We still have a windchill advisory but it isn’t nearly even close to what it was. The temp in the picture is from right now. The wind is supposed to start to die down.

Happy Merry Christmas eve aka the calm b4 the kid storm. Hope everyone is ready!
I got a text from the chicken parents I am sitting for and I am hopeful they will be back soon ish. No date given, chicks are fine and fun, just looking forward to less responsibility and more stretching room.

😂 my feeders smell like vitamins inbetween bleaches. No, big ice cubes but the metal is disgusting over here. Won't/can't use it 🤪

Star fruit tree and some green color for those hunkered down in white weather.
Manono, my FTT. She is so pretty, hard to believe she was a runt ♡
Just beautiful…beautiful birds and weather!!! Merry Christmas! I hope it is a good one!

That's awful 😞. Glad you have means to keep warm though ❤️

So I finally have a moment to just relax. Not for long though 😂. Chickens are still alive and some are deciding to come out of the coop today. I only got 3 eggs yesterday so I’m really hoping that will pick back up since they have access to outside and it isn’t nearly as cold. I do have a couple with frostbite on their combs. Live and learn I guess…just sad it had to be with these guys.

Ducks are still inside because there is a LOT of snow in their coop bedding. I have to try to get it out tomorrow so they can go back out. I just can’t let them out there with that much in their bedding.

I felt super bad about the snow getting into the coops and really thought it was my fault in the design. But in reality there was clearly nothing I could do. With 50mph winds blowing snow around, it’s going to get into every nook and cranny. It even got into my tight fitting lid metal food cans.

We went and got the new girl goat yesterday. We decided to name her Pittypat. So, we have YupYup, Yeehaw, Littlebit, and Pittypat. She is very quiet and did fantastic on the 2 hour drive home.

We had an unusual and difficult challenge the past few days. Everyone learned something. I had the same with snow getting into the chicken run through the finest crack. They are out for the first time today.

I’m thankful for all the great people who step up to the plate when needed. I think everyone should congratulate themselves for a job well done if their animals pulled through.

Congratulations on Pittypat and Merry Christmas!

Thank you! This was challenging for a lot of people who aren’t used to this weather. To get through this I too think everyone should be proud of themselves. I know I’m feeling complete relief. Even though it is still really cold out, -12 with windchill and wind at 14mph, it is an extreme improvement.
