I am hoping it is just to their combs. Some of the girls have rather large combs but as of right now I don’t see any on their feet. I just hate seeing where their combs are bad because they are so big…so much is damaged

So I finally have a moment to just relax. Not for long though . Chickens are still alive and some are deciding to come out of the coop today. I only got 3 eggs yesterday so I’m really hoping that will pick back up since they have access to outside and it isn’t nearly as cold. I do have a couple with frostbite on their combs. Live and learn I guess…just sad it had to be with these guys.

Ducks are still inside because there is a LOT of snow in their coop bedding. I have to try to get it out tomorrow so they can go back out. I just can’t let them out there with that much in their bedding.

I felt super bad about the snow getting into the coops and really thought it was my fault in the design. But in reality there was clearly nothing I could do. With 50mph winds blowing snow around, it’s going to get into every nook and cranny. It even got into my tight fitting lid metal food cans.

We went and got the new girl goat yesterday. We decided to name her Pittypat. So, we have YupYup, Yeehaw, Littlebit, and Pittypat. She is very quiet and did fantastic on the 2 hour drive home.

Congratulations on the new addition! Such cute names. So glad that the weather is improving, and clear skies. Hope your snow melts soon. Ours all went away by the time we came home last night after 8. Never thought I'd be so happy to see rain.

I want rain so bad!!! Unfortunately I think it’s going to be a while before the snow melts for us. But luckily it’s not going to be as cold. We are supposed to get snow tomorrow night into Monday. But then on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and next Monday and Tuesday is all rain in the forecast. But I guess it is at least rain and not snow so the temps are warm enough for it not to be so cold. It will be a blessing. I am glad it is clearing up for you, this weather was not forgiving.

Ok guys… I need help and advice. I noticed my cockerel wasn’t really coming off the roost bar. I thought maybe it was because it was cold and he was trying to keep himself and feet warm, so I didn’t bother him. He was crowing yesterday and this morning. Today though I opened their door and none really came out right away. So I gave them a while and went to check. Cockerel was still on the roost bar. Normally he would have been out by now, at least I would have thought because he is ALWAYS the first one out the door. I picked him up to check his feet and then I noticed some of his skin on his foot was torn off. And it was slightly swollen. So I tried to put him back on the roost so I could look more into this. He got down and was limping. So I went inside and cleaned up the kennel the goats were in, which luckily I had already started.

So know I need help with what to do. I want to do the Epson salt soak but I don’t have any and ALL the stores are closed. I know I should put at least triple antibiotic on it, without the numbing medicine. I will note that inside he is standing on it. But seriously it is a zoo in here so it doesn’t surprise me he is nervous. I put a blanket over the kennel but he still won’t lay down. I’m going to my moms house and I’m going to see if she happens to have any of this on hand. He is eating and drinking, at least a little while I was setting next to him talking.

Yeah Epson salt soon as somewhere opens. Ointment for sure til then. Soaking in warm water off and on ...I read somewhere you could give them an aspirin for pain (research it first).
I'd definitely make him like a sling to get him off of it so it has some time to heal.

How would the sling work? He has been laying down for a while now. And thank you!! Does it look like frostbite or just an injured foot?

Can I use epson salt with scents in it? I have this laying around the house. I just thought it might work better than nothing at least until I can get him some plain stuff.

* edited for spelling. I’m so nervous I can’t think straight. I will feel like if something worse happens to him. Or any of the other for that matter.

I can't tell if it is frostbite or not...
Did u check the roost to see of there was ice on it?
I noticed when cleaning off the snow on my roost bars that there was a thin layer of ice where they normally are at near the door.
It xould very well be that he stuck to that?
Idk for sure
