Decided to name him Kirin for the Korean unicorn. He's too sweet for my own good...lol. Think I'm stuck with him now

Yes, it stayed green even after the freeze we had. The girls and boys al enjoy grazing. They got a New Year's treat of grapes that my neighbor gave me. The boys were saving them for their favorites. Rumi played a trick on his sister, gave her the grape and then jumped her. Brother E promptly chased him off.BEAUTIFUL babies! Is that green grass I see?!!! Happy New Year. Goodluck with the sweaty roof.

Sylv used to mount my bare feet and have a jolly good time on them. I still have the scars....Growing up, my brother brought home a coturnix hatchling from school. Birdie would follow us around, attacking our feet, for some odd reason.
Love seeing pics of your beautiful birds. May Leo's genes be perpetual. Glad you can visit him.
Our last dog, a large mix breed, would whine and shiver during thunder and fireworks. Too bad there wasn't CBD oil back then. Have any of you tried it for such situations? Gabapentin works too well on the cat. His surgery got rescheduled twice now, and I'd already given him the meds. Third time this Friday should be the charm.
I dabble in mushroom ID, and yes, that is an amanita, possibly muscaria species. They are a beautiful red when not aged. The Mario mushroom. Alice in Wonderland, too. Hallucinogenic, poisonous to some degree. There is a saying, " All mushrooms are edible, at least once ."
Happy New Year, Everyone!
That's so sad about your peacock. What a shame.I'm not really that old. I just feel like it lately...lol. I'll feel much younger when my 3 years to grow to do list is caught up!
That's too bad about Leo. Hes gorgeous. A bit like an extra flashy duckwing. He reminds me of the Olandsk dwarfs. Swedish flower birds are well named.
My three dogs are pretty chill about them. The little one wants held but give him that and hes calm. He'd rather watch the fireworks in my arms then be set down and left inside, the goofball. And my two biggins are completely relaxed. My kids dogs shake and shiver though. My youngest has the little black n white dog and he has the hardest time. Even when held he quivers all over. Set him down and he starts panting and shaking apart. My oldest kids big dog literally wants a security blanket. Toss one over him and he's happy. What he'd really like is to be held...but hes ok with his blanket. Poor babies.
My birds have never shown any upset. They lay well the next day etc. We did have peacock startle from close thunder once and break his neck hitting the roof of his enclosure though. So I'm sure it effects at least some of them...think they hunker down instead of startling. Our horse doesn't mind them though. Fire a gun right next to her and she'll ignore it, keep eating or whatever. Leave a cement pile in the desert where it doesn't belong and she'll start prancing just in case it's the devil...lol.
We keep it to quiet little fireworks, but those artillery shell type fireworks seem to be all the rage these days. The sound from those carries a long ways and was everywhere yesterday and last night.
@TropicalBabies has the right idea...get far away where its peaceful still. Enjoy the quiet and get some work done while your at it ❤
How beautiful!Pictures of Ertugrul, and Brahmas Lani and Pua, finally feathers out. Lani is laying. Pua is not quite there. Got 6 eggs yesterday. DH is going to solve the sweating, condensation issue with the metal roofing. It is dripping water into the supposed dry run area, so now it's damp and smelly.

Moles are still there, so did some research and ordered a gopher hawk for them, and walk the plank and flip traps for the mice and rats. Now the war begins next week.
