What did you do with your flock today?

Today, Stanley supervised taking down the Christmas decorations. He seemed to enjoy bossing us around

Of course, Ferdy supervised Stanley from my shoulder. Stanley has still got his L plates on after all....

He is like a perfect boy chicken.
I hope @Shetland lover enters that photo in Picture of the Week. It is really, really terrific ♡
I adore how much interaction both @kurby22 and Shetland have with their birds ❤️ Reminds me of watching my kids growing up with chickens. I got to see some truly precious moments with them. I'll have to see if I can figure out how to add my old old photos of my oldest and her Ezzie to share. We stayed up half the night and held vigil with her when Ezzie was passing. That chicken was more like a dog.

Here's a pic of my youngest and one of her little loves...Twinkle Twinkle Little Star...what a mouth full that name was! They spent a lot of time reading books together though.

Those are some great memories and photos ♡
We hand raised a Minah bird and a Magpie. My photos are buried but you made my memories fresh. It is so fun to be friended by wild things. I think I seriously need a rock Squirrel. Just adorable. Love those photos 🥰💕

Twinkle was a pretty little hen! And a pet squirrel - how cool is that!

We lived in the middle nowhere when I was a child and brought home all manner of abandoned wild birds and animals. Two of the most memorable were George the wood pigeon, who stayed for nearly a year before he moved out (hormones got the better of him, I think) and Barney, the owl. He stayed until his eye healed - about 3 months - but they both became very tame and came back to us at least once a week for a few years to check in and grab a snack. I also rescued a bat once. Incredibly cute but it did stink!

Today I had a migraine and went to bed for much of the day. It meant I forgot I couldn't get the small coop door open when I let everyone out this morning. Anyway, at chicken bed time, Ferdy banged on the kitchen door to be let in so I opened the door and he stormed in shouting at me. He did a circle round my feet, yelled at me a bit more then ran outside. He then kept coming back for me. I followed and found Penelope perched on the coop roof grumbling. I picked her off the roof and tried to put her in the door. That's when I realised...
But clever Ferdy for coming to tell me I had been a negligent chicken parent 🤣
I think Clara was the most sensible of the trio. She just got in the big coop with everyone else. No fussing.

Ah sorry about your head and I think checking out for the day sounds about right. Sometimes you just gotta.
That is incredible about Ferdy. I absolutely love it. Chickens are so much smarter than we give them credit for. Ferdy is a super hero.

Does anyone remember Super Chicken?! The creator definitely grew up on a farm or had a flock in their backyard. Probably had a Ferdy ♡
