What did you do with your flock today?

@kurby22 is your coop getting its first test the next few days? How's the weather? @PopoMyers ? Don't think this front came via the pineapple express? Not sure if this last Kona low will spin off in your direction. That was a wet one for us. I loved every second of it. We have greened up beautifully. Unfortunately.... 🦟🦟🦟🦟🦟🦟 They are back and relentless. I re started a water garden with fish and put out a bunch of sticky traps last eve that the girls got to scream at @ bed time.

Got 17 beautiful eggs yesterday.
Got 2 stands refilled and new temp stand filled and delivered in time for the town celebration. Still behind on 2 big stands but may go check out the rodeo for a bit.
Need to deliver Cisco to his new people this weekend so bath and gear prep for Saturday. It is a big thing loading and delivering a big animal some distance to a new remote local and it always make me a bit edgy. Not looking forward to any of it for any reason. Silver lining is new people are thrilled and seeing cool happy people is a highlight. I will miss Cisco a lot. He is a wonderful horse and I hope he has a wonderful life.

Ailment = ___________ Medicine
THIS is a great article in the making for someone knowledgeable to help all us out!!!
Or is there one out there?!
One place that explains the ailment with its symptoms and best medicine(s) to use for the situation at hand.
Cuz I'm in the dark with most of these adult type issues!

Sure hope Pepper continues to improve!
Poultry DVM has a great list of symptoms, possible ailments based on the symptoms and the recommended meds and supportive care.

I worry about the egg exploding. I am checking early though right now with these duck eggs because she gave me some that were about 10 days old and I wanted to make sure they even took before letting them set forever in there. After seeing the little ones fall out of the eggs my son dropped, I’m not in a hurry to see an egg that exploded. Maybe it won’t in that short of a time frame but finding this kind of information out there, I haven’t had much luck. I know there is a lot but it is all conflicting and/or very limited information. And with everyone’s incubator being different, as far as humidity and temps go, I am trying to learn by asking you all. Thank you! I do hope that hatch day is soon.
Welp. Sounds like you got it all handled.

@kurby22 do you happen to cool your Call eggs and spray them with warm water after 10 days? I have read that it is supposed to help with hatch rate and it simulate what momma duck would do to eat and drink and would more than likely be in the water so come back with a little wet belly. I am only on day 7 today (at 3:30pm) and I’m still trying to decided if that really helps or not. I have read a few places that people do this but also some that don’t.

You will have an eventful, bittersweet weekend, all the best to Cisco and his new people. The front we have is from the east, bringing the frigid air, which will meet a Pineapple Express moisture coming so then, snow likely tomorrow night into Sunday. I believe the heavy systems you get may spin off to the NW of you, Kona to Kauai. Normally the jetstream comes at us from the WSW, which is why flights to HI take a little longer than the return. You have sure been sewing up a storm! The kitties and pups would thank you, if they knew the generous person helping them.

The fact she's no longer laying but clucking, eating and passing normal poops are all great signs. Just need her to keep from prolapsing again, now!
Hemorrhoid cream is still the weapon of choice over here for treatment. Mind you, our vets are still recommended to do a purse-string suture if stitches are required. I think the US and Australia recommend an interrupted line suture instead.
The use of sugar does make sense as 50% dextrose solutions are used to lavage a prolapse during surgery. Sugar isessentially the same thing, just applied earlier and not fully internally.
The calcium citrate is a great call as it will help strengthen uterine contractions which will help to keep everything in place.

I've been looking at the mystery 'blob' again -and I stress this is just an idea that's been floating around in my head, definitely NOT a diagnosis - but i think I've seen something superficially similar where the right oviduct (which normally regresses and becomes defunct before egg-laying commences) becomes what is known as 'persistent' and actually grows. They often look like fleshy, fluid filled sacs.
Again, thank you for your helpful, informative, confirmations on her treatments.

@Shetland lover thank you for taking your time to share your wonderful education/experience and for helping us out so much. It is really terrific for us to have our own personal on site vet in training. I learn and get reminded with your every post ♡ your terrific!

Sweet that you're delivering him. Hope it goes smooth and easy!

I don't spray mine. The logic of spraying sounds good doesn't it. But ya, no spraying here and good hatches 🤷‍♀️
