What did you do with your flock today?

Happy Saturday all!
Woke up to a functioning 6 cat, 1 dog tiny household. My heart soars with the Eva... hopefully not to crash down like a chicken.
My plans are to admire my garden, sell several dozen eggs, cut and sew a bunch of bags all while watching the gentile ebb and flow of my fuzzy and feathered flock.
Looks like we have some sunny weather. Would not have minded keeping the rain for another week or so. Guess I am not THAT powerful 😆

Coffee is tasting extra good this morning. Happy for no hatches though did have a brief episode while looking at an Ameraucana chick thread. I quickly averted my eyes. And happy to not have a coop build. Got three on this thread alone who got that market cornered lol. Only coop thing I am due for is a scrub in another month or 2 depending on the weather.. oh, and shade cloth replacement but milking what I have for as long as I can stand it. Yep. Bags it is...

What's not to love?? Now they are just cute photos of him, unless... 😼😾🙀😳
Awwwww ❤️
I have 17 Call ducks going into lockdown tomorrow, though I have started to slow down the turning the last couple days. In hopes that they can turn in time and hatch for me. I was turning 5 times a day. Today I have sat them where the air cell is where it should be and basically ready to go.

I was looking at little bottle fed baby girl goat the last couple days. She has problems with her front legs, and according to what she told us it was due to being cramped in momma and would heal itself with time and play. However as we talked more it was more than just that. She would need constant vet care and help. Which I would have been fine with but it was almost 4 hours away. And we really thought it best she stayed close to a vet that knows her best. Kinda weird though that after we told her it was best she stay close to her vet the add was flagged and removed. Not sure why though, we talked to her so knew she was real and seen videos, so know the baby was really due to what she was telling us and showing us. 🤷‍♀️ Anyway, we were looking at another goat at the same time. We will be going to get her tomorrow. I’m pretty excited about it. My hopes are to be able to milk my girls and start using their milk. Just gotta do some more research on how to do it right.
🤞for a good hatch! Mine have been laying like crazy and I've discovered no one here's a fan of duck eggs. Not hatching any right now so I've been collecting and scrambling them for pet treats.
Sounds like you made a good call on the baby goat.
Whoohoo thank God thats over!
2 daughters having their first baby girls 3 weeks apart have both been "sprinkled" abundantly! Even with the delay during our mani/pedi my mom and sister-in-law seemed ok sitting through the chaos of the workers actually showing up today! Can u believe em?!
Anyway it's over with and done and I'm pooped! Gonna go sit with the babies a while and relax!
So glad your workers showed even if their timing is truly awful. Sounds like you had a good sprinkle though! Mani/Pedi's and good company! ❤️

Got my window trim up on the joined coops and asphalt painted onto the yokos coop today. Too tired to bother with pictures though 😂 Everything is now black on the yokos coop though so, um...ya. I'll have to see if I have enough of any paint left to fix that! Maybe if I sponge some white on and then sponge blue over it I'll have enough to paint some of the yokos coop prettier.

Very quiet here tonight. Oldest is on her way home from her trip to Kansas, youngest is off to work. So just me and DH enjoying a little quiet time. ❤️

What about mixing your paints together to make 1 color?
wow! Grown up time. 😁 well, for a little while anyways.

As I was doing my sewing thing this morning I noticed a young feral hen acting kind of goofy so I got a better look at her and could see she was not well. Not puffed and sick but something was off. I cornered her and captured her and could see she had swelling above her eyes, maybe pox, not surprising. Then I saw a mite and thought I'd spray her, keep her and pump her with vitamins and then let her go when she was 100%. After spraying her the mites are having a mass exodus, goodness they are soooo bad. She must have been brooding and abandoned her nest because of it. Well glad I got her and can fix her but now I know there is an infestation somewhere probably next door... so probably going to have to scub my coops sooner than I thought I was going to have to lol 😆

I hope I did….I wanted to help her so bad. The lady is a mom with kids in a school and activities with them plus she has been helping her mom who has dementia. There was plenty of pictures to back up what she was saying. I think, honestly, someone flagged her because she wanted to ask questions and know where her baby was going. We were on the phone with her forever talking about our goats and how we took care of them down to what this little one needed. We just thought it best she stay pretty local rathe than so far away.

My kids don’t know if and when I use our duck eggs for meals. I have been saving a bunch to hatch some out, aside from my friends. But when I do cook them the kids don’t know. I’m sure they would have a problem if they did know. But we have some people wanting to buy them to eat and others want us to hatch some for them. Really I will be hatching for us first and extra male and female pairs I can sell will be a bonus but I for sure what to try to keep some extra girls.

Hopefully it doesn’t spread too fast. And I guess the lining in this is that you haven’t scrubbed your coops yet. We don’t have feral chickens here otherwise I’m sure I would be like you. You have such a big heart because most people won’t help animals that aren’t theirs and just let nature take its course. Your an awesome person!

Pepper and Pikake are now coop mates. Pikake was just by herself this evening, hadn't gone to bed in the main coop, so I opened the divider fence, and she casually walked over. I am thankful that I didn't have to try and catch that wild girl. No eggs from Pepper yet, which is good. I think she only got bullied when trying to find a roosting spot. Other than that, no one bothers her when they are in the play yard. Have 5 eggs today! I'm gonna have to wash Pua's bum. Her fluffy has some 💩 stuck to her. So much fluff there that it didn't quite bypass it.

Love your cages there! Especially the outlet inside. Did your DH build them or is that some of your handy work? I want to hire whoever to come teach me how to build like that ❤️
Nice catch on the feral lady...hope the infestation doesn't hit your babies and the coop scrubs all that's needed. Do you ever use diatomaceous earth for mites?
Hello may I join you guys?
The more the merrier! ❤️
