Poor chickens! I've had a dog manage to get fly strips wrapped all over her but never a chicken. Wouldn't surprise me if they were trying to get a tasty treat off those strips and got more then they wantedI'm sorry. Unless you have the luxury haha!
I caught Joy in the nest last eve and of course worried she would be a broody type as I think I have 3 or 4 already, though they are 1x per year (I think.. late ish summer) so far. She did not growl so musta been a late egg TG. On a roost she went and stayed.
Mosquitos are horrible again as are the flies. Ordered 2 more zappers online and am also going to clean up my dyno and put in a new bulb to see if it can't pick off some. Will also refresh my fly tapes. Last time I did I had 2 chickens get tangled in them
-funny in a very sad way or verse visa-
AND I also bought some natural repellent incense type sticks. Full attack response to the full attack of mosquitos (and flies)![]()

Hope it's nothing too bad! Easter baskets! I miss the kiddie easter funBeen battling an ear infection and last eve it got the best of me. Guess I can't keep trying to ignore it lol. So passed on putting a stand @ KCCP this morning as I was also congested and was not positive it was due to the ear. Don't want to pass unwanted crap to another.
Have a few things to get for Easter baskets today (will have DH go in and wear a mask, ut I have cleared up) and then plan to take it semi easy.
Got poop boards scraped, feeders filled, waters scrubbed and filled and boards broadcast with DE to keep flies away.anything else is bonus.

Shes seemed healthy except for her feathers...think I got all the mites! She's such a sweetheart! She's getting much fluffier! How's the mites? All gone now? Is she able to walk...can't remember if she had problems other than the pecking or not.
I have several that are on rotation for broodiness! Got Bambi out the other day and shut up the nest box on which she proceeded to sit in front of them all pancaked down. The boys kept aggravating her so guess she decided to get up and now she's just going around everywhere grumbling worse than I've ever had one do before! I've never seen a silkie get so po'd![]()

Bambi sounds like Goldie...she has a mission!

I've always wanted guineas! I'll probably never get any though...I have enoughChicken math strikes again! I caved at TSC and picked up 4 Guinea keets. They're gorgeous little things, very prone to random backflips. This brings the count to 26. The rest of the girls and boys are outside - they still get a little nervous around dark. They do tend to settle once the sun is down and there's no more light.
I brought our runt (I hate to think of her as a runt, she's more of a scrappy underdog type), Wee Chick, indoors. She's 7.5 weeks and still smaller than a tennis ball, not remotely fully feathered. Her brothers and sisters have been keeping her warm at night, but the temperature dipped today and she was standing alone in the barn, obviously cold. I made the decision to bring her inside, gave her some nutri drench and scrambled egg, and after a few hours of slow movements and lethargy she's energetic again.
I've been feeling the empty nest blues since the babies went outside - having the keets around is really lovely.

Wee Chick sounds cute and bringing her in sounds like a good call. Enjoy your new littles
