What did you do with your flock today?

I'm sorry. Unless you have the luxury haha!

I caught Joy in the nest last eve and of course worried she would be a broody type as I think I have 3 or 4 already, though they are 1x per year (I think.. late ish summer) so far. She did not growl so musta been a late egg TG. On a roost she went and stayed.

Mosquitos are horrible again as are the flies. Ordered 2 more zappers online and am also going to clean up my dyno and put in a new bulb to see if it can't pick off some 🦟🦟🦟🦟 . Will also refresh my fly tapes. Last time I did I had 2 chickens get tangled in them 😂 -funny in a very sad way or verse visa-
AND I also bought some natural repellent incense type sticks. Full attack response to the full attack of mosquitos (and flies) :barnie🦟🦟🦟🦟🪰🦟🪰🪰🦟🦟🪰🦟
Poor chickens! I've had a dog manage to get fly strips wrapped all over her but never a chicken. Wouldn't surprise me if they were trying to get a tasty treat off those strips and got more then they wanted 😂 Still pretty bug free here but it was a warm day so bug seasons right around the corner!
Been battling an ear infection and last eve it got the best of me. Guess I can't keep trying to ignore it lol. So passed on putting a stand @ KCCP this morning as I was also congested and was not positive it was due to the ear. Don't want to pass unwanted crap to another.

Have a few things to get for Easter baskets today (will have DH go in and wear a mask, ut I have cleared up) and then plan to take it semi easy.

Got poop boards scraped, feeders filled, waters scrubbed and filled and boards broadcast with DE to keep flies away. 👍 anything else is bonus.
Hope it's nothing too bad! Easter baskets! I miss the kiddie easter fun ❤️ Hope you guys have a great Easter!
She's such a sweetheart! She's getting much fluffier! How's the mites? All gone now? Is she able to walk...can't remember if she had problems other than the pecking or not.
I have several that are on rotation for broodiness! Got Bambi out the other day and shut up the nest box on which she proceeded to sit in front of them all pancaked down. The boys kept aggravating her so guess she decided to get up and now she's just going around everywhere grumbling worse than I've ever had one do before! I've never seen a silkie get so po'd 😳 😆
Shes seemed healthy except for her feathers...think I got all the mites! 🤞 My girly was back at it today so probably going to have to pull her for a bit. Lot of 1 year olds in that coop so they lay a lot and she wants to hatch them all. She's just over a year old and this is the third time she's gone broody. 🙄 Can't remember ever having a hen that determined!
Bambi sounds like Goldie...she has a mission! 😂
Chicken math strikes again! I caved at TSC and picked up 4 Guinea keets. They're gorgeous little things, very prone to random backflips. This brings the count to 26. The rest of the girls and boys are outside - they still get a little nervous around dark. They do tend to settle once the sun is down and there's no more light.

I brought our runt (I hate to think of her as a runt, she's more of a scrappy underdog type), Wee Chick, indoors. She's 7.5 weeks and still smaller than a tennis ball, not remotely fully feathered. Her brothers and sisters have been keeping her warm at night, but the temperature dipped today and she was standing alone in the barn, obviously cold. I made the decision to bring her inside, gave her some nutri drench and scrambled egg, and after a few hours of slow movements and lethargy she's energetic again.

I've been feeling the empty nest blues since the babies went outside - having the keets around is really lovely.
I've always wanted guineas! I'll probably never get any though...I have enough 😂
Wee Chick sounds cute and bringing her in sounds like a good call. Enjoy your new littles ❤️

Today was pre-easter fun mostly. Waaay too much food, lots of sun and a trip to watch a reenactment of Christs resurrection by the Yaqui Indian tribe. They spend 40 days reenacting the whole Easter story every year. The amount of love and effort they put into is really amazing. Anyhow...it was a good day.

Mina however! She finally figured out how to use the trashcan I use to store chicken feed in to jump the fence into my garden 😂. Got it moved and gave her some attention. Then took Rowan the little gosling out to meet Goosebumps again. Poor little Rowan already knows she likes Goosebumps but Goosebumps has been running away. Today Goosey finally came close to get her petting so there's progress. Really hoping Goosebumps will make friends with Rowan. 🤞 No idea what Goosebumps early life was like...but boy she doesn't like geese. Maybe if she gets to know them when they're young? Hopefully anyway.

Welcome to chicken math world!
Sounds like u got a good lil flock!
I've been told I'm ready for chicken trigonometry 😆 they're a lovely flock, I've been lucky so far!

Guineas were the first ever fowl I came across after I left my job and home and started living on farms and ranches to prepare myself to be a homesteader. I couldn't believe they were real! The sounds they make, the way they group together, the way they roost...it all just boggled my mind. I decided if the opportunity ever presented itself, I would get some. And today was the day!!!

Wee Chick is an absolute cutie. I am trying to keep a positive mindset, even though she's severely delayed. I hope she lives a very long life, and I'll do everything I can to make sure she does. Thank you so much for the kind words. ❤️

I hope you entered that in POW. ♡♡♡
Just beautiful 😍

Hope all are having fun with their babies ♡

DH went to park to watch the community Easter egg hunt. I went back to bed. Amoxicillin is not touching my ear infection yet. Will make a doc appointment tomorrow.

Praying it will resolve soon.

Chicks first ever day outside! The weather here finally got nice enough today to let out babies explore the outside today. We brought them all to their new run and stayed with them while they played around and dug and ate. They were so darn cute when any one of them found a worm she would get SO excited which would then alert her sisters and the chase was on! They are all snug in the brooder again after a super fun day.
