What did you do with your flock today?

Went to town to get food for babies big and small. DH came up and put on roof. Thank goodness as I despise cutting tin 😝

Got some hardware and things for me to tinker with tomorrow, need to hunt down a ridge cap.
Then nest boxes, finally!!!!

Oh, forest find! Can you spot it?

That would be my guess...

Well better go collect eggs out of the cat carriers so momma and babies have a place to sleep tonight...

They look like biiig eggs!

I pulled a few leaf lettuce plants out of the garden and gave them to my locked up birds. They've gotten used to their confinement, I think. But soon I should have a second run built out under the blue/cloudy sky.

I mentioned earlier that the pullets' combs and wattles are growing now and getting redder. They're 16 weeks old more or less. And it seems like they're acting a little different, and the sounds they make seem to be a little deeper and louder. I guess the hormones are starting to kick in.

Today I made up mash feed for everyone. (Crumble feed in water) let everyone out of the main coop for the day.

Was going to spend the rest of the day with them when I got back from a store run. Was going to put time into another coop/pen I have going up. But that got put on hold due to a migraine of a tension/sinus headache I can't get rid of. Then it rained and the power went out.

Headache is still with me but the power is back on. Maybe tomorrow I'll put good time into the coop/pen.

I pulled out the dog crate from a hoop house and cleaned it up. Then I installed some horse stall pellets for a hen on the mend. She has gotten strong enough to leave the cardboard box we fixed up for her but still not ready to rejoin her cell mates. It was another day of filling the feed bins in coops today that I fill feeders from daily.

That's a lot of raspberries! Ours won't be anywhere near as productive as we've replaced nearly all our old canes with 1st year ones. The ones we have had so far I shared with Ferdy and Penelope. No one else likes them. Except Elliot. He's the only cat I've known to love a bowl of raspberries and chopped kale!
I've been making copious amounts of jam from my blackcurrant, whitecurrants, strawberries and gooseberries.
Jam to go with those lovely scones!😋
