What did you do with your flock today?

Double birthday today, Pru and Clara are 3. They all had scrambled eggs, salmon and peas for lunch and a peanut butter 'cake' topped with yoghurt, strawberries and blueberries for tea. Will have some stinky black poops to clear up in the morning for sure!

Also, my brother's wedding is Thursday and both the florist and the cake maker have pulled out! The cake maker claims she didn't know the cake had to be gluten-free (not true) and says she can't do one at short notice!😠 Not sure what the problem is with the florist.

Sooo... My mom is now making the cake. Somehow I have to make a sugar flower rose spray etc. for it AND do the bridal bouquet! Terrified I muck it all up as I've never made sugar flowers before. Thank God for You Tube!🤣😭🤣
Wow! What a tall order for you. Just a thought, have you considered using real flowers on the cake? Much easier, and still pretty. You will do just fine. YouTube is my go to for many things. I'm always amazed at what instructional videos can be found there. When my hand is ready, I'll be pulling up a video on how to change out our ice maker. Samsung put in a horrible one on our model, so I bought the most recent repair part.

Raked up the poop under where they all seem to be roosting, outside the closed in coop. Maybe they'll go back in come cold weather, we'll see.
I believe pullet Velma is finally laying, as she was doing egg calls today. So fun to have her all grown up. They are also eating a lot of the fallen apples. Time to pick, DH brought home boxes to store them until we can do a cider press.

What a good sport you are to do that for him. I'm sure your flowers will turn out perfect. And if not, they will be all the more special because of the effort.
Thank you! I really hope I can do it justice. It's more for my future sister in law tbh. Her mom and dad cannot attend the big day as they are overseas so I want to try to make things as special as I can.

I know, I knew he’d cave! And Shadow is no fool hehe, he went straight for him with the purring machine 😍

What a good chicken mom and sister you are! You will do an amazing job! 😍😍 Must see the end products! I did the centerpieces for my sisters wedding—it’s harder than I thought but they turned out so pretty! Pinterest ideas and YouTube…where would we be without them? 😆❤️

This is just the most adorable picture ever 😍😍😍 That kitten is just the cutest ❤️

I think I will @Shetland lover! How are you catching all these rats?? Mine just laugh at me when I set the trap out! They even taunt me by sitting in front of the security cameras like…”What? You won’t get me, I’m loving all the feed your kids spill for me” 🤪🤪
Dear God! He IS smart to go straight for the heartstrings with the dreaded purring machine 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I sure hope I manage to cobble together something half decent in time. I'm working today and have visions of being up all night making flowers as I gather they need 24hrs minimum to dry!

We caught another rat this morning. DH is baiting the traps with whatever remains of the chickens' evening meal (usually a custom blend of fermented seed with finely chopped greens and a bit of added protein - we're finding this works better than anything else) then he puts them right on the rat runs. We're only putting two traps out and moving them every 2-3 weeks.

I have considered real flowers - I decorated my best friend's wedding cake with those - but my future SIL wants sugar ones so she has a keepsake.
Even with you tube, I'd find swapping out an ice machine intimidating. You're very brave! Good luck!

Have you figured out which are her eggs yet? If so, are they blue?

Mine think apples are poison! More's the pity....🤣

We had an early hay delivery yesterday so everyone got a full huuuge flake of very leafy alfalfa just to clear out the last of the old hay. They'll have a couple days of fun working those over.

Took Goose to the vet yesterday morning because he started limping and it's progressively gotten worse. I feel along the bad leg and there's no reactionary spot but he's whimpering while he's laying down now off and on. Vet thinks he has Valley Fever so doing the tests to find out, but starting him on medication for it as she feels very certain. That poor puppy just can't seem to catch a break. My poor sad little stray is the most expensive dog I've ever owned now. I so want to see him be a healthy, happy, carefree puppy. Don't think he's really gotten that yet. Very briefly between parvo and this. I'm just starting to learn about Valley Fever... awful stuff. The only thing that seems wrong is just that one leg...was expecting x-rays and maybe a torn ligament or tendon...not this. Poor baby.
