What did you feed your chickens today?

Today my girls got their usual starter feed (they are 10wks old), a handful or so of BOSS (Black Oil Sunflower Seeds), and several handfuls of clover that I plucked from our backyard.

Mine 3 girls always have their 16% feed, plus today I got them some goodies in the discount bin while I was grocery shopping. They have enough Kale, Chineese cabbage, pear, apple, orange, leeks, red lettuce, and tomatoes to last them through the week-end. It only cost me $3.00 for a weeks worth of extra food. They will get left over spegetti sometime during the week and frozen peas that they just gobble right up.

Mine don't seem to like boss. They are kind of slow to eat new foods, they love bugs and grass. But they have eaten all the bugs and it's chilly tonight so I gave them some canned dogfood (I'm going to get some catfood but all I had was dogfood) and they ate that (till my doggie joined them) and I scrambled an egg, which they loved.

I chopped up some meat in the past and they were lukewarm about it. I'll bet they would eat it with relish now that they are bigger. I was getting mealworms for them but they are pretty expensive here. They enjoyed some palmetto bugs a few weeks ago, when I moved the woodpile, but they are gone now too.

I am concerned that feeding them table scraps will make them not want to eat bugs, and one of the reasons I got them was to eat bugs. could this happen?
