What do folks do besides take care of chickens I mean!

I do in home infant care. I have two babies that i care for on a daily basis. I also occasionally volunteer at an animal sanctuary and am on the PTC board at my children's school.

Now: Stay at home mom with daughters ages 7 & 4. We live in a small village in VT and each year trying to become more self/local sufficient. We spend a lot of time outdoors and making things (arts and crafts, baking). I sew and am an aspiring fiber artist (aspiring mostly for time

). I have an etsy store and have sold my items at Farmer's Markets/craft fairs.

Past: Preschool teacher, store manager, baker and bakery manager. Mt. Bike and X-C ski racer, snowboarder.

Future: I hope to someday have more land in order to become more self sufficient. I would love to be able to start homeschooling my kids next year. More fiber arts, more CHICKENS!

It is so amazing to see the diversity here! Thanks for starting this thread.

Well, for now I am a stay at home mom, but I really don't like staying at home, so I shop, and help my friend organize her home for ebay. I have 3 kids, a 12 yo pre-teen drama queen, a 10 yo ADHD/Bi-polar/very high tolerance for pain DD, and a very intelligent 6 yo DS. Then of course my high-maintenance hubby, and my brother and future SIL live with us, and she is due for their 1st baby - well, NOW! Which is what my future job will be - babysitting my new neice!!!

In the past I have done food service, grocery cashier, deli, recieving supervisor, I did the Police Academy but did 911 operator instead (loved it), went to school for graphic design but didn't finish (not my thing), and then did vet tech/recp/manager. In my spare time I love to do anything artistic, like draw, paint, and photography, and read. Oh, and raise chickens!!!!! And that's about all for me.

WOW ~ what a fantastically diverse & fascinating post! I love to see what drives those behind the words. Seems we all know a little about eachother, but not actually that much at all. You folks sound fantastic!

My husband is self-employed, he is a chainsaw carver, custom furniture maker, and all-around Wood Genius. This is our website ~ http://www.carvingman.com/ ~

Before that, he made nice $$$, but lots of stress, working as an HR Generalist, specialized in Lean Manufacturing, & other managerial type jobs. Before that, he carved and did from conception to complete custom woodworking jobs for a company. Thank goodness he is now doing this for himself, and we have SO much less stress.

As for myself, well, first & foremost, I am a Domestic Engineer. :-D
I also homeschool my 5 children (ages 10 to 16), sell things on eBay, sell things I sew, sell jewelry I make, & am the web-master/designer, receptionist, & general Office-Lady for my husband's business. Oh, & I write... books, a blog, web-material, eBay descriptors, etc.
I have also been the PTO President, Teacher's Aide, Room Mother, a receptionist, an LPN, a CNA, & worked in several Geriatric Nursing Homes.

I also hold several callings within my church that tend to take up quite a bit of time ~ & both my husband & I are into Scouting ~ he's been a Scoutmaster for over 10 yrs., right now we are the Webelo's Leaders.

Someday, I would like to open a small store of eclectic offerings ~ it would be a great outlet for all the little ~crafty things~ we have fun with... My husband built my daughter a dollhouse, for instance, & I had SO MUCH FUN filling it up with little goodies..... That's my future dream... :-D

Past....Worked as a Phlebotomist for a while but my joy comes from senior citizens. I find they can teach us so much if you will just take the time to sit and listen. I went from Phlebotomy to running a In Home Care business. I love working with Alzheimers patients. My mother in law had Alzheimers for 13+ years and I cared for her in our home till the day she passed. My mother had cancer of the liver and pancreas I also cared for her at home till she passed.

Present...... I am retired and disable ( major back problems from picking up on patients all those years) I am raising my grandson Aaron who is 2 and enjoying life. I have just got involved with chickens and plan to raise and breed mini donkeys. We usually have a large summer garden and a fall garden also. My husband is retired from the school systems in Illinois and now works at Wal-mart just enough hours to keep medical insurance. My grandmother raised me and we always farmed and had animals, I hated it all as a kid but here I am back at the old home place doing it all again and living it.

Remember..........Does anyone remember when Laying Mash came in printed sacks??? I had alot of dresses made out of those and I still have a box full of the sacks.

Kajunbanty ~ If you are ever interested in selling any of those sacks, I would willingly purchase them from you. I have been looking for something just of that nature.

To be honest I had plan to use them to make a quilt but having the baby now has put that on hold. I have seen them on ebay many times you might check them out there. I can't sell these at this time I found them in my grandmothers chest after my mom passed. She had them all washed and arranged in a nice neat stack. I also have a ton of older material from my husband grandmother and some quilt patterns already cut. Just need to find the time to do something with it.
