What do hens look for in mates?

I was reading an article that says hens will reject the sperm of roosters that they don't find attractive. But in a coop situation they don't always have a choice. We selectively breed chickens for traits that we desire. I'm curious if hens were able choose a mate what traits would they be looking for?

One of the primary attractants to a female is the position of the male within the flock if more than one male is present - -meaning that the dominant male is seen as the most desirable.

In my flock, it seems to be the male who finds the food, who alerts for predators or changes, and courts the ladies. They don't care about color, size, etc. It's all about behavior.
