What do I call this duckling?

I currently have of breeding age 1 Cayuga and 2 Buff drakes (one light, one standard) as well as 4 Cayuga ducks and 1 Buff (light).
The Standard Buff doesn’t seem to get any action as he’s usually muscled off by one of the other drakes, so it’s a possibility but remote.
I was trying for sex linked ducklings (Buff on Cayuga) and threw some of my Buff’s eggs in as well. Cayuga on Buff will give Blue, but not sex linked. And I didn’t read well about Buffs not breeding true, so Buff on Buff will give any of the three Buff colors.
So this baby hatched from my Buff egg (yes, I’m sure it’s hers). I guess my Cayuga drake got in a shot even though the Buff drakes guard her like the Secret Service 😆
I added pics plus some of the Cayuga hatchlings for comparison, this guy was a nice dusky color at hatch with lighter bill and feet. The difference is more obvious as they all dry out.
If it’s female it will stay for my breeding purposes but a drake will need to move along. So do I call this a Blue Cayuga? A Blue Buff? Or just a Blue duck not Swedish?

More eggs need to hatch…fingers crossed for SL blue and lilacs, I haven’t had any hatch successfully yet.

Definitely a Blue. Keeping until I know if male or female.
Dried picture with two Buffs and three Cayugas.

The last three hatched today, a Buff, a very hopefully Lilac from a Cayuga egg and a Blue from a Cayuga egg (so should be male).
Posting pics of the color progression of the Lilac, other than bill color she hatched dark and turned very yellow as she dries. I haven’t found ANY pictures online of Lilac ducklings (non Runner, Call or Ancona), so trying to be helpful if anyone’s interested.

Not sure what breed it would be, but you should call them Lucky or Clover or something, if they don’t have a name.

I think you probably understand that any duckling with Cayuga and Buff is mixed breed. They are definitely colorful ducklings. The color variety is great. I have gotten blue ducks in my mixed flock. Sometimes my ducklings look nothing like the parents. Good luck in your studying of the genetics.

Like in turkeys, the “breed” is Turkey. The colors are varieties. There are Cayugas that aren’t Black, which genetically is impossible if Cayuga were a breed. So the breed here more represents a body type than a breed. My Cayugas tend to be a bit more body than my Buffs and lay greyish eggs. So I could assign the “breed” as the fitting body type as they develop. This amount of effort has not been put in to call them mixed ducks, that’s for thoughtless backyard breeders.
It’s been a lot of work, but the sex linked ducklings has been worth it and my Lilac duckling is a gorgeous duck. More pics for comparison- three Cayugas, three Buffs, one Lilac and two Blues, one which is sex linked male.

No, like Chickens, the SPECIES is duck which is divided into breeds. Just like chickens, you can work to introduce traits into breeds they don't originate from, but they are still seperate breeds
