Do you have electric in your coop or that can be run to it? If so, there are several options for a heated water unit. Without that there are other approaches. I've had both electric and non electric coops. In the non electric i provide fresh water 2-3 times a day when temps are below freezing and the birds learn to drink accordinglywhat do i do about there water
I would get a heated waterer, and extend a cord out there. Or, you could try to keep the chickens' body heat in one area, and keep the waterer there.what do i do about there water
I have a plastic one, a Little Giant. It works really well, but is so tall and hard to refill. I almost wish the cord would come out of the top.If you have an enclosed run or large coop or a run that is protected by weather you can use the water heaters. I have the metal double wall waters and use the heating bases during the winter. They make plastic ones as well but I'm always concerned about plastic melting or cracking.
