What do I feed my chickens?

My birds eat 20% protein show feed pellets.

Go drop a few pellets in water and see what happens. Any time I have done that, the pellets get soggy and fall apart really fast. It might differ by manufacturer, or even by what country or continent, but I've seen it happen with several brands in the US over quite a few years' time.

X2. Every time I look at the poop on the poop board believe me when I tell you there are no partially digested pellets.

Yeah, but not all of them will. It's like junk food. Not every one will eat a healthy diet because they need it. They like the taste of the fatty, unhealthy parts

Feeding cow meat back to cows can spread Mad Cow disease.
Same for sheep and the disease Scrapie.
Both are prion diseases, and I don't think there are any known prion diseases in chickens (yet.)
And a prion disease should be the only kind that could be spread by feeding cooked chicken to chickens.

Yuck! Surely we can find something better to feed them than chicken unless we are really desperate for feed or entertainment. Yuck!

Maybe if you fed them infected meat from an obviously sick bird, but none of mine have ever gotten sick from eating chicken and I've done it for a decade as treats

I just wanted to ask one question here. How many conversations are going on here? Is it about or are they about layer pellets? What to feed chickens and next feeding chickens chicken dinners? Or who got what degrees in what? And how easily digestible what feed is if it’s not chicken or whether to feed rabbit feed to rabbits or chickens? Next it will be whose on first and whose on second? I don’t even know who through the pitch at this rate. Good grief.
