What Do I Need to Know Before Getting a Silkie?

hmm..... im not quite sure...i noticed that he like to jump on my lap so i started doing that gesture before he jumped and it only took about a week before he understood what it meant.its very helpful that way i dont have to struggle to get
him on my lap!

I've been teaching my chicks to get into my lap and to trust me. I was sitting outside with the chicks free ranging and my month olds saw I was eating a sandwich. Well soon I had chicks in my lap pecking at the other end of my sandwich. Now I sit on the ground and they jump in my lap looking at me as if to ask where the food is. :)

yea thats exactly what happened to me!! i have a little container and a measuring cup to scoop their food and he always saw me have it on my lap so he started jumping up there to eat. And thats kinda how i taught him that trick. then my other chicks started catching on so next thing i know four chickens are on my lap pecking at the measuring up ....sadly this doesnt happen any more.I lost 3 out of four of my babies to two stray huskies
