what do you all think of this ?

How many birds do you plan on keeping in one of them? Seems to me a 4x4 won't hold much. Also it seems to me that for that price you could do better at the local home store, such as Home Depot or Lowes. While it is cute once you begin modifications the price goes up. Might as well buy a shed from the home store.

Home Depot has a 10x10' 9" for $798. You may get free delivery from the store.

Of course it's really up to you and whether your happy with your choice.

Wish you the best

The summer location is some what close to the neighbors. We live at a corner, but there is 2 acres of land then our house and next to our house is one neighbor. It's not that close really, maybe about 200ft away but their bedroom is facing our driveway (the summer house will be seen and approx 70 ft away from our driveway). I've got 4 roosters. I just don't want to bother them or would it be a bother ? They already have a dog that barks like crazy when they let him out to their deck. I never complain !

You're telling me what's wrong with the summer location and I was saying what's wrong with the winter location year round?

ddawn;
I've got my corners mixed up. Summer location would be out back where there are snakes and close to mini forest right behind it.

I have total of 25 birds (3 ducks, 4 roosters,1 baby chic(1 month old) 15 hens. But I also have 2 coops. If you looked at my page, I have a small coop and medium one with two floors along with 7x7 shed right now. The broody mom and her baby chic is in the garage for now. The remainder of the chickens and ducks don't all sleep in the shed. I've checked homedepot and even went there, I didn't see what you are refering too. I did however found 8x12 and 10x10 for $748 and $749 but after reading the reviews, I decided not too.

To Pat's remark and questionl there is no way I would want my birds to have less then 4 sq ft, I am not insane. You know my story, so going with 2 playhouse along with the duplex chicken coop that all can be portable might work, so I thought. I would love to buy 10x10 or even 10x12 within my budget, that is not the issue. This thing is eating me alive. Maybe what I can do for now before buying anything is re-locating the 7x7 shed that I have to the summer spot (close to the house) and use my chainlink fence and make a 10x30 run for them and see how that works out. Meanwhile, I could clean their current spot after removing everything and have a clear view and consider what comes next after that, maybe ?

Then I am mystified why you are proposing to buy a pair of 4x4 playhouses?

Even if you split them up into three separate pens (well, you know, three separate coop-run combinations), your current 7x7 coop would house 12 birds, and each playhouse would house 4, which only accounts for 20 birds' worth of space at 4 sq ft apiece. Mind, you could knock together a separate duck house for cheap, ducks don't need a lot of housing. But you would be building a LOT of run fence that way, and would have relatively little flexibility because you would be stuck keeping your birds in smallish groups.

Sorry, I am just not getting how what you're looking at matches up with what you say you are after.

Basically you cannot have everything on your list of wants. You will have to compromise somewhere. Only you can decide which items to compromise on, but you WILL have to compromise SOMEwhere, barring unexpected major lottery wins.

no I'll admit I didn't calculate their square footage correctly. You're right I would have to compromise somehere. You know having a few birds and portable coop/run and that would solve the issue but it won't because I love every single one of them too much, I don't want to give them away nor do I wanted them to be unhappy. That's why it's eating my brain because I want them to have sun in the winter months and shade for the summer and fresh grass and etc. I don't care if I have to walk 1 mile long to feed them, I'll do it. If I didn't care for them, this wouldn't even be an issue. I would of let them stay where they are and call it a day but I care too much for them. When driving, I notice people's houses and if I'm in a red light I would picture in my head where the coop and run will be but that's not my backyard. When it comes to my own, I drive right up to deadend and I end up driving myslef nuts.
I have potantial 4 areas in my backyard for a coop and run, that would be each corners of the lot for a permanet housing for them. 2 areas are facing the mini forest, other 2 are the sides close to the house. 1 side is a hill (current spot) gives privacy cause no neighbors on that side but smaller run and for it too be bigger, I have to get rid of those trees, and the other side has leved floor no trees, closer to get too but neighbors are close by and no privacy. So you tell me where would you have put them if you were in my shoes please

I think this is ur best bet for now.

I would put them wherever. I do not think it matters hugely, from what you have said. It is a tradeoff, with no site clearly overall-superior to the others. Therefore, IMO just pick one and move onward

Just curious, why would you have to get rid of trees to put in a run?? I know that trees sometimes offer a route for raccoons and possums to get over the fence but that is really only an issue at nighttime, 99.9% of the time anyhow, and personally I would not hesitate to have trees in an open-topped run.

Personally I would rather have the chickens closer to the house rather than further away but there is nothing so bad wrong with further away either if you prefer. The factors you'll be dealing with will be different in each spot, depending on which spot you pick, but that is just life. Pick one, then you can concentrate on dealing with the particular idiosyncrasies of that actual site, rather than this business of wanting to have it all in one package

It seems to me that pretty much any of the 'issues' you mention CAN be perfectly well dealt with (except possibly this dream of a large portable coop with no vehicle to pull it
