I have lost 5 silkies over the past two months. They were not all in the same pen but close. They became lathargic and can't hold their heads up. I give them sav-a-chick by syring. I have almost 40 chickens of all ages. 2 that died were what I call teenagers and 3 that were older.

Can anyone help me figure out what is going on.

The next one that dies I would recommend having a necropsy done. Most state extensions have a vet that will perform them for free or for just a small fee. That way, you will know exactly what you are dealing with. So sorry for all your losses [IMG]

As for Marek's, the only prevention is immunization that is given at one day of age. Marek's is everywhere, in the soil and air. I read somewhere that if your chicken breaths, it has been exposed to Marek's. Good quality feed, low stress and good sanitary practices are all ways to help combat Marek's.
