Facebook Marketplace for your area. If you've got an idea of how many you get, you can estimate how many you can sell. My hens paid for their food and then some when I lived down in Suburbia. I've since moved out to the country, but since everyone out here seems to have their own hens, I make a once a week trip back to my old suburban area to sell eggs. Works out great. I get money to support my hen habit and I get to see my friends almost more than I saw them when I lived down the street!!!!

I don't think it's a super great idea to sell them, you could get in a lot of trouble if someone gets sick.
Come on folks , let not be paranoid. I have been selling eggs to all my city friends and my neighbors when their hens are either broody or molting. These people know how clean and healthy my hens are. They all realize just how healthy and fresh my farm egg are.

I'm not being paranoid, I'm merely stating the fact that you are taking a risk whenever you sell eggs to someone.

We use about 18 to 20 eggs a week for eating, baking and cooking with. We give away another dozen or two a week to a friend.
We are throwing about 5 Or 6 dozen a week away. I would like to sell some or give to someone who is in need , but I'm afraid people could sue us or we could get in trouble if anyone got sick after eating them.
That is a sin, to throw away eggs when so many people are struggling to provide food for their family. Find someone you can give eggs to who is having a tough time financially. Check oout your local church and food bank.

Here are the egg-selling rules for West Virginia, if somebody here wants to sell'em:

Thank you for that common sense post.

Thak you for the common sense post. I cannot believe anyone would throw out food. Even before the pandemic, we have known about all the hungry kids in this country who go hungry to bed each night. I guess being 81 years old, I can remenber some tough time, esp in the early 70's when Boing almost shut down and we were out of work. We struggled to feed our 4 kids. Would have thought anyone who gave us eggs was a saint. Seem some of thes posts have never seen really tough times. Do you think our grandparents and grandparents would have thrown out any food?? Ok, off my soap box.

We would sell after filling out our family and or neighbors. I wouldn't worry about a "sick" egg, etc. What a joke.

In the past we bought some eggs from someone, there were 2 rancid eggs in there and what did we do? Tossed them, did we accuse the seller or go after them? No.
I always sell the fresh ones, only 2 to 4 days old and eat the rest for me and my dog.

Here in Southern Southern California.... LOL I am about two miles from the Border With Mexico.... YOu can sell eggs off your own property.... You can sell them to friends and by word of mouth.... As long as you aren't selling more than three hundred a week I believe.

Its been a long time since I researched this.... Yes the US is a Litigious Society... And terribly afraid of Food born pathogens.

If you want to sell them at a farmers market you have to have a Shell EGG permit. Same goes for Donating them. Your place has to be inspected and you have to be practicing bio-security. Which we all should be doing any way. Oh and the eggs have to be graded...

Egg preservation....
Salting
Waterglass preservation Very old technique
Freezing
Home made Powdered Eggs... surprisingly easy

There are a few Asian methods but Not something I want to try...

Love the quiche Idea....

Outside of the Powdered eggs and pickled... I feed the Ravens any that are iffy... place them in a pan on the roof of the coop. They are gone in a day...

Eggs fed back to chickens scrambled along with finely crushed egg shells
Eggs Fed to the dogs

And of course eggs fed to me.... LOL. Though I would limit my poultry to only what I can deal with.

deb
Great idea to limit to what you can deal with, but then there is chicken math. Oh,those cute little chicks at the feed store. !!!
