What do you do with all those eggs?

What do you do with extra eggs?

I sell them I get 35 to 45 eggs a day no problem getting rid of them and I’m in a small town. If I was farther north by a couple of hours I could sell as many as I could get for 4:50 a dozen
Mixed breeds, are you close to me, I am in Yacolt. I sell mine to friends for $3, I know that is a bargain, mine are organic and free range.

I hatch as many as I can get away with. I love it so much that I'm to the point if I'm allowed to pick out the eggs, I give my friends whatever chicks hatch out for free.

I also feed the eggs back to them. I scramble them, dry the shell out separately and they drink the egg right up, even the younger chicks. They love it. No egg eating problems here besides ones that crack on their own and this way i don't worry about them not getting enough protein

Our 16 sweet young ladies lay way too many eggs for the 2 of us to consume. Here's what we do: Eat what we want; freeze some in case they stop laying; share with friends. Far and away the most enjoyable thing I do is every couple of weeks I gather my extra cartons of eggs and take them into our economically struggling little town. I go to the Post Office, offer eggs to the Postmistress, workers, and any customers who are there. Anywhere in town when I see folks who seem down on their luck I offer eggs to them. The amazement - and the smiles on peoples' faces when they find out this is a gift just makes my day! Try it!!
What a wonderful idea, good for you!!

Have, at this moment, a score of potential layers, not counting the ducks. Its my wife and I, and we are receiving anywhere from 5-9 eggs each day, now that the Brahma and Silver laced are starting up. Just gave 2 dozen to the neighbors. Have a dozen in the incubator. Fed a half dozen of the oldest back to the birds.

Breakfast is usually either scrambled or fried on toast (2 ea), plus stuff to make it taste less like eggs. A dozen are going into the pickle jar today. Try and use a couple as batter for frying things, at least once a week. A couple more go into bread each week, when I convince my wife to make challah with the sourdough starter. Can disappear one or two into fried rice. Six more into quiche, every other week or so. Cookies (every other week or so - the waist line, you know???).

...and, I've got 61 of them (this AM's count) in the fridge right now... Going to be making a dozen scrambled eggs and shells from the oldest, feeding them right back to the birds.

Really should make a sign, donate them to others in the neighborhood, except that egg cartons run $1/each. Need to find a better way.

Maybe on the sign you could put for them to bring a carton, basket or big bowl?

My hopes are that my young birds (16&17 weeks) will start up in the next month or so.
