Sick birds get euthanized(broomstick CD), they and ones that 'just die' get tossed into woods, 15 rural acres. My birds are confined in a pretty secure run so never had a predator kill, if I did any remains would go into the woods too.

Chicks and birds that have died in the dead of winter, when I can't walk out into the woods, go into a paper grocery bag and into the herby curby. Curby is dumped with a mechanical arm(which never ceases to amaze me) so they never see them.

Had to bury my one dog that died here, buried her deep(2-3 ft) under the catalpa in the east field, covered body with a previously cremated dogs ashes then a towel then 2x4 fencing(to deter digging animals) then dirt and a rock cairn, nothing tried to dig her up thank goodness.

I've never heard the term herby curby before. I had to look it up & was surprised to see a trash can. I think I was expecting some sort of fantastical contraption.

That is why recycling prices sky rocketed. No one wants recycle. There are about 20% of people that truly recycle the correct way. Recycling plants are not equipped to sort out 80% trash.

yep and a lot is people who don't know... and it doesn't matter that the company sends out a flyer every year explaining it, has it on the website and PBS did a documentary on it

A woman I know was complaining they didn't pick up the recycle with the recycle truck, but picked it up later with the garbage truck.. I asked her if she had any plastic bags or pizza boxes type of things... yep she did and didn't know that would goof up the works
eta I am not in an area that has pick up recycling and I know these things though LOL

Last one that died was in bad shape so I sent her to the lab in Cal State San Bernardino. They do an "autopsy" and some tests to make sure this isn't NewCastle or other nasty du jour disease. Plus it's free and you get the results.
Sorry for your loss. Not to go too far off topic, but what was the cause of death?

Yep, and why I just chuck it all in the curby anymore.
I already pay for landfill, not going to pay again at the 'recycling center'.
Pisses me off, but understand the dynamics of why it has changed.
