I trap/killed a big rat last Saturday night. I should have catapulted it into the abandoned field across the street, but it was the middle of the night & I guess I wasn't thinking clearly. I double bagged it & threw it in the trash. So stupid of me. I was just talking about how bad that would smell & then did it anyway. :he The trash doesn't go down the road till Thursday nights, so that nasty rat baked in my driveway in 85* weather for 5 days. :sick I had to unleash an entire can of Febreze, plus a whole bottle of Meyers Lavender spray cleaner into that can. The Febreze, was barely denting the smell, but the Meyers Lavender is really strong. Between the two I was able to keep the stench from waifing into the windows or into the garage.

I think we need to add 'catapult' to the poll options.

I'd like one of those pits with a hatch at the top that you see designs for in old poultry books; maybe I'll try to make one some fall day when I don't have anything else to do.

I live on an old turkey ranch and there's a pit like this in the far corner of the back 40. Back when my dad was a kid it was one of his jobs to pick up dead birds daily and toss them in the pit.

:thumbsup Thank you! I'm gonna read this to my kids & remind them about it every time they complain about doing their chores. :D
