Helloworld-
Yes, the feed either needs to contain meat or I will be supplementing the meat in. The farmers helper has salmon meal & fish meal. Mazuri waterfowl breeder has fish meal.

Chickens really -
Honestly I do not know. I got the orignals from Holderread as adults. I have read his book on what to feed them. Basically make sure it has meat in it. Higher vitamins & minerals. Make your own or get a waterfowl or gamebird breeder.
Awesome all you can do then is try and locate other breeders of that breed and they will help you along..

Helloworld- They are fantastic! Super helpful. I even got to talk to THE Dave holderread on the phone! The Drake I was originally supposed to get got taken by something the night before they were going to be shipped out, so he personally called to apologize (he said it was his fault) and help me pick my new Drake.

Chickens really- Thats an even bigger issue then the feed is. I can't really find anyone! I found one lady in Missouri who breeds. I was supposed to trade this season for both of us to get some new blood. She stopped answering my emails. Holderread sold pretty much his whole flock of hookbills to a someone in Canada. I don't know if they'd be willing to help me.

I feed this:

It's the only pelleted all-flock that I can find in my area. Get it at Fleet Farm. There's lots of pelleted layer feed, but I have a drake...

Do you have any problems with the pellets? Are they small pellets? I got pellets once And it seemed they were all chocking on it, so I went back to Crumbles.

Both Purina and Nutrena make an all flock. Purina makes a crumble, Nutrena's is a small pellet, but neither contain any animal protein.

They're small pellets. For size comparison, they never exceed the size of a fuse for a string of Christmas lights. The ducks eat it just fine, and I like it because there is less waste in the bowl at the end of the day.

Casportpony- most feeds sadly do not seem to. The cheapest one I have found that has some in it is Dumor from Tractor Supply. I think maybe going a good feed without it and then supplementing the meat in maybe the only option other then getting the Mazuri.

Drhawkeye07- less waste would always be beneficial
