What do you gather eggs in?! Pics?

I have been using wire, and it works really well! Wicker also works fine though.

Glad to see there are so many pocket collectors. I do it to. I usually just carry the eggs in my hands, since I get about three eggs a day. But if I end up doing a last minute chore or have to carry something else, they go right in a pocket. I have not broken one yet. I did buy a clearance easter basket that I will use once my other little ones begin to lay. I cannot imagine seven or eight eggs in pockets. That's asking for trouble. I also have an egg skelter which I love! Keeps eggs neat on the counter and in order of the day they were collected. This way, you're always using the oldest egg first.

The girls aren't laying yet, but I presume I will resume my old habit of rolling up a shirt to carry the eggs. Never had one break in my pocket, though I did drop a few out of the top of the rolled up shirt when there were too many!

I had to look up the egg skelter - never heard of it. That is a really slick idea!

I bought 3 wire baskets with handles from the Dollar Tree, each a different color. so when the grandkids come over, they have their own baskets.
I only have 13 hens and I gather 2x day but the baskets will hold almost 2 dozen eggs easily. The color basket looks nice on the counter too as i do not put my eggs in the fridge for a couple of days after gathering
Dollar Store is good source, eh?
Wire sounds nicer...

Good ol' cool whip containers. Or ice cream buckets. Or sour cream containers. Whatever's handy! :)

ETA: Thought I'd never do the pocket thing but I do, barn coat or hoodie, especially in winter when I gather every few hours due to freezing temps. Haven't broken one...yet.

When it's warm out tho, I gather once a day when I lock up at dusk and usually use a basket.

I bought a nifty wire basket because I wanted one...not usually into cute stuff, but this is practical too ;-)
But...
I've found the wide bottom allows the eggs to roll around unless there's quite a few, and I think that's why the TSC wire baskets are narrow at the bottom.

I use this hand woven basket my sister made years ago to carry up to 4 cartons if I deliver.

When I was a kid, which was many, many years ago,LOL, we had chickens in our backyard. It was my little brothers job to gather the eggs and one day he went out and put them in his coat pockets and then forgetting about the eggs went on to play with his friends. Not a pretty sight. Needless to say mom was not happy! lol

gathering eggs with my grandmother (early 1960s) is what got me interested in chickens. She frequently used her apron, gathering it into a basket and gently placing the eggs inside. All the while I held off rooster attacks with the tobacco stick she kept just inside the door just for this purpose. The only picture I have of this is not to share, unless you have pictured it in your head; that's where mind is, crisp and clear.
