I just use Glad Ware tubs, but i am holding out for that PERFECT egg basket! Just haven't found one yet.My oldest chickens are only 6 weeks old right now, but I'm already thinking about what to gather eggs in once they start!
Wicker? Wire? What do you use and why? Have you tried any methods that you like more or less than others? I'd love to see pictures of all your different gathering tools!
These our our youngest, 3 week old Fat Chocobo and Luna coming out for some social time.

I had always wondered what those things were called! I have wanted one to put the collected eggs in until I clean them for storage. I usually just leave them in the tub I collected them in until I clean them to crate them and put in the fridge. How long are eggs good for on the counter as long as they aren't washed yet??? I have always wondered. Mainly because I think a relative of mine stopped eating my eggs because they are sometimes left upwards of 4 days on the counter before I get the time to clean 'em and crate 'em. Also I occasionally find an egg on the floor of the coop usually partially buried in the shavings so I have no idea when it would have been laid, I used to throw them back out in the chicken yard for them to eat, but the other day I found one and took it in hoping it is still good?I use a little red wire basket that I got at the dollar store to carry them in. Then I keep them in my egg skelter. I would suggest a skelter for anyone who collects eggs. When I tried keeping them in the basket, it was such a chore to rotate the eggs & make sure the oldest were on top.
