What do you gather eggs in?! Pics?

I only have 3 hens since my coop is very small. So I usually use my pockets and I've been known to carry one back to work with me accidentally when I collect at lunch break. And they've always made it safely back home. But it makes me smile when I discover it.
I hope to have a larger coop in the future and would love one of those cute wire baskets.

I've got this deal. They are advertised as egg baskets and AKA golf range ball baskets. This one is too tall /big for my 9 hens. I will never fill it in one day. I've looked at the smaller ones which are more appropriate. Sometimes if I let the egg drop in the basket just a little bit it will crack the egg on the firm wire. I like it...but usually eggs are collected twice a day in my carhart pockets.
That is why, even though I like the looks of them, I am sticking with a normal wicker type basket. We have enough trouble getting the eggs to the house unbroken. :D The basket has nice soft sides, more forgiving than metal. .

I had always wondered what those things were called! I have wanted one to put the collected eggs in until I clean them for storage. I usually just leave them in the tub I collected them in until I clean them to crate them and put in the fridge. How long are eggs good for on the counter as long as they aren't washed yet??? I have always wondered. Mainly because I think a relative of mine stopped eating my eggs because they are sometimes left upwards of 4 days on the counter before I get the time to clean 'em and crate 'em. Also I occasionally find an egg on the floor of the coop usually partially buried in the shavings so I have no idea when it would have been laid, I used to throw them back out in the chicken yard for them to eat, but the other day I found one and took it in hoping it is still good?

There are about 50 billion articles/entries you caan read on storing eggs, but I'll give the the cliff notes.

When eggs are laid they have the coating called Bloom. Bloom protects them from germs, bacteria, etc. In nature it would be to protect the embryo from any outside forces.

If you don't wash the bloom off, your eggs can sit at room temp for several weeks. I even read several months but I'm not going to be the one to test that!

If you wash the bloom off, then the eggs would need to be refrigerated, because they have no protection.

There's a lot of side info on how the shell is porous & putting them in the fridge actually causes the egg to contract which pulls bacteria in. But that's a whole nother article.

So, when I sell eggs to new people they get a little card tucked in the bucket explaining about the bloom. I let them know that my eggs are unwashed so that they can decide for themselves. If I wash them, then my customers are locked in to my choice. I do wipe off any poo spots though. That's just courteous.

I am very new and I don't have chicks laying yet but those wire ones they sell in Southern States and such look great since it keeps the eggs from cracking each other. Not sure how necessary it is if you have a small flock. Anyone else have any thoughts on that particular kind:idunno . That is the kind I was thinking of getting once we get to that stage. HTH!
can you please elaborate on this a bit? I tried looking on their website but didn't find anything .

Yep or even the smaller gauged wire baskets. What happens is the eggs on top will roll to a new position over the ones on the bottom. And knock against the sides too. In fact I think that's how I've had them crack before. I've laid them in gently but they roll and hit the posts or a side too hard and they're cracked. The lighter wire on some of the more vintage ones are better....or wicker.

I use to collect them in my coat pocket, but now I get about 8 a day so that is to many for my coat. Plus my daughter bought me a wire egg basket from Buchheit's and I use it to collect the eggs.
