What do you gather eggs in?! Pics?

Farmer Viola,

Have you had an "OOPS!" yet...a broken egg in the pocket?

Gross...huh?

It depends. When it's cold and there's only a few, into my coat pockets (no mess, yet).
I'll use their empty treat bowl (has to go to the house anyway for a refill).
I also have two metal egg baskets with stationary handles. I keep them in the work area of the coop (where the chickens can't get) and us those if: no treat bowl available or too many for my pockets.

LOL well.........
not exactly.

I HAVE opened the washing machine to find tiny bits of egg shell all over my clean laundry, however!

I keep these little metal buckets hanging under the nest box hatches so I won't be tempted to slip eggs into my pockets. Trying to clean a smashed egg out of your coat pocket is no way to start your day.

My oldest chickens are only 6 weeks old right now, but I'm already thinking about what to gather eggs in once they start!

Wicker? Wire? What do you use and why? Have you tried any methods that you like more or less than others? I'd love to see pictures of all your different gathering tools!

These our our youngest, 3 week old Fat Chocobo and Luna coming out for some social time.

I think I will splurge and buy a wire basket..I'm a newbie to... I like the round ones. Mine aren't laying yet but I will start looking now. I just think the wire baskets are nostalgic.. Although I remember my grandmother using her apron...i think my husband would laugh at me if he saw me with an apron on... but I'm sure if she had a cute wire basket she would have loved it. I'm also looking at ways to display my eggs on my table. Saw a cute DIY display board I'm going to make.

At this point we only get 1-2 eggs per day (well technically 0 per day, but up until this past week 1-2 per day) so I just carry them in my hand. I will be getting 4 new chicks next week and should have eggs from them sometime in the fall. Once we are back up to full production I'm hoping for 4-6 per day most days and will need to figure out what to use at that point. I will look to see what we have around here first before shopping :). The wire egg baskets are super cute but our eggs go into the fridge so really no point in paying money to carry them from the hen house to the kitchen.
