Boone Farm
Songster
I just have a small flock of three. 2 Barred Rocks and a Rhode Island Red. I wish I could have more (dang city rules). I love the look of Buff Os and having an Easter Egger would be great for the novelty of it.

Well.... they are my only vice.Sounds like you don't just have a flock, you have an addiction.
if it gets that cold where you are try looking up the cold tolerant breeds. you may want to find a breed with a rose or pea comb and something fluffy too. some breeds such as silkies are very cold tolerant because their combs are compact and it helps ward of frostbite issues. also, I was reading somewhere that chickens with feathered legs tend to be more cold tolerant. when they are sleeping it helps to have the fluffy bum so the feathers cover their legs and keep them warm. hope this helps.so ive been thinking of starting a new flock but i live in a place that usually drops lower than 0 degrees Celsius. Im just asking if rhode island reds are weater hardy and if they can tolerate the cold?
